House husbands review of a Panasonic Blender

The design is simple and functional but quite stylish, I like the use of black glass on the base it complements the aluminium body and it looks great on our black worktops. The blue LEDs add a dash of extra cool too. The base is sturdy and quite heavy so the blender is not going to move around while you are using it. The jug automatically locks onto the base while blending, so there is no chance it will fall off, but it is easy to remove when it has finished. Programmes are easily selected using the touch sensitive glass panel, and you can adjust the basic programmes using the rotary dial when you get a bit more proficient, depending on exactly what it is you want to make. I've started off with the basic smoothies and soup mixes which were very easy to select. Great feature to warm soups while you are making them, and there is also an ice jacket to put round the jug if you want to make ice cream, there is even a drip catcher for this so you don't get puddles on your worktops. When cleaning up, the whole base of the jug unscrews (using the attachment provided) so every part can be properly cleaned, and it all goes back together really easily too. The downside is that the blender is quite noisy. It is impossible to have a normal conversation while you are using it, and anyone sleeping in the next room might be disturbed. To be fair though, I don't think I have ever come across a quiet blender or food processor, and this is a relatively minor niggle.

Will it blend? Yes.... But with side effects.

If were to just rate the Panasonic MX-ZX1800SXC by it's pure blending capabilities I would definitely rate it 5 out of 5 as it really does blend items with ease. Either it be fruit, vegetables, nuts, smoothies and even ice cubes the blender doesn't seem to have issue of what I place in the jug. It has a number of pre-programmed functions which are simple to use that alter speed, time and even pulses for a variety of your everyday blending needs which is a nice touch. It can even heat soup as you blend which is a great feature. My favourite feature of this product is definitely how I can remove the blade base from the jug which allows me to clean the blades much more efficiently and quickly compared to my previous blenders. One side effect of this feature however is that theres a rubber gasket (ring) that you place between the jug and base which allows for a water tight seal. This little rubber ring is so easily lost as you have to remove it every time you clean the blades and is very easily misplaced. At one stage I had to fish it out of the bin! Thankfully Panasonic does supply extra gaskets at reasonable cost but I wish they could have come up with another method for this feature without this awful gasket or at least supply a few spares in the box. One side effect of such power of this product is the noise that is outputted especially at the higher speeds are far too loud for me to be in the same room. The first time I used this blender people from all over the house rushed into the kitchen as they were as they said 'startled and scared by the loud noise'. The lower speeds aren't too bad and luckily I don't venture into the higher speeds too often but the noise is highly unfortunate as I don't really want to vacate my kitchen every time I blend. The blender does seem to be very well built however with a very heavy sturdy base which is important when blending items at such high speeds. The jug is also well put together with the handle very securely attached so well that I have no worries it will fall off when carrying anything inside it. Overall I'm quite happy with this blender, it's unfortunate that some of my favourite thing like the power and ease of cleaning have such bad side effects however.

Premium product, which does not disappoint.

The Panasonic MX-ZX1800 Blender is sold as a premium product, which does not disappoint. It has a distinct premium feel and has a serious collection of features. From it’s ability to prepare basic staples such as smoothies, juices and purees to creating hot, fresh soups from scratch with the most minimal of effort, it’s truly a winner for busy households and the most creative of cooks alike. It has 6 automatic preparation functions built in, which enable you to create the aforementioned recipes with ease. Simply prepare your ingredients, throw them in, switch it on and supervise. After a maximum of ten minutes, dependant on what you’re making, it’s ready to go, and perfect every time. For the more adventurous there is a manual setting which lets you adjust every aspect of its intensity, and also features a pulse mode for if you’re not quite sure or are using delicate ingredients. It’s super powerful too, 10 speeds, with 1300W of pure grunt to get the job done. It’s full of accessories such as a tamper, to mash tough ingredients, a reuseable ice pack to keep frozen ingredients just that, a rubber drip tray to keep mess to a minimum and a seriously clever way to disassemble the jug to enable detail cleaning after use, using a plastic adaptor. It feels well made and does exactly what you expect it to. For instance on only my second use, after a mere flick through the manual I threw some tinned tomatoes, two part boiled potatoes, two carrots, some coriander, a pinch of salt and some herbs into the blender, turned it onto soup mode, and walked away for ten minutes. When I came back I was greeted with hot soup, of the perfect consistency and frankly tasted pretty good, considering I gave it very little thought. I can only imagine what I can create with proven recipes, or by spending more time formulating my own. I make a lot of fruit juices and smoothies however, so it instantly replaced by stubborn old cheap blender and makes creating these in the morning extremely effortless. Now I feel I can make more adventurous foods and recipes for my main meals with very little added time to preparation. I’m extremely impressed by this appliance.
