    Best router ever!!!!

    5/5
Fantastic range, needed a new router to cover the whole of our house with no dead spots and allowed more the 15 devices to use the Wi-Fi at any one time (this does 50) so I can now add to my home automation without any data collisions or devices going off line

Strong 5Ghz performance, but not great if you have lots of 2.4Ghz devices

    3/5
Bought this to replace 2 Apple Airport Extremes. Our home has around 50 devices that use wi-fi - lights, sensors, thermostats and cameras driven by Apple Homekit. Some of the lights are driven by their own hub (Philips) but the majority of our lights are from Lifx, which means they don't need a hub, but do need wif-fi bandwidth. Response delay was getting significant - 15 to 30 seconds for triggering a light. The house is a 1930's semi, so not huge, but does have plenty of solid brick walls. I was attracted to the AX12 because of the number of "streams" it could handle - thinking it would be able to manage the 50 devices better than my airports. Pros ... Throughput on the 5ghz channels beats the airports hands down. iPhones and computers regularly connect at over 800mbps. Cons ... A single AX12 struggles with keeping a connection to all 50 devices - particularly those at the furthest extremes our home. The majority of our "smart devices" use the 2.4Ghz band, so while the 5Ghz devices are fast (there are 2 5Ghz antennas), the majority of our stuff (35+) fight for the remaining streams allocated to the 2.4 ghz antenna. Which means there is still a delay (5 - 10 seconds). So an improvement on that factor, but some of the devices won't connect or drop their connection. Ultimately, I ended up having to reconnect one of the airport extremes to ensure full house coverage and run the AX12 in wireless AP mode. The setup isn't perfect. If there were 2 antennas for the 2.4Ghz channel, I guess everything would be instant. If I was to revisit options, I'd probably check out the Mesh type devices to see if that would improve things. Didn't go down that route as we have Cat6 in every room all terminating at a network switch - so thought running in AP mode would be more effective - obviously not.
