Terrible at drying

Out of all the washer driers we have bought for our rentals this has to be the worst. As others have said, it takes ages to dry anything - almost 2 hours for our brushed cotton duvet cover alone and the we had to finish it off on a hot radiator. Coupled with the 2hr 20 minute cotton was and the a further hour to dry the bottom sheet and 2 pillow cases that was nearly 6 hours in total just to launder our bedding! I agree you should be able to select the highest spin speed from every programme to prevent having to spin it again and also that it shouldn't beep until it really has finished - why it has to take so long messing around before it lets you open the door after the programme has finished is beyond me. Im ver disappoibted with this machine.

Cons: Delay unlocking door at programme end, Drying inefficiency, Spin speed inflexibility

Value for money

The washer drier is a baseline model; an adaptation of the washer-only model which we had pre-installed in our new house. It is cheap and cheerful. Remember, a built-in drier is never as good as a stand-alone device, so you need to understand the results will not be the same. The washer-drier uses a simple electro-mechanical control which appears to be robust. The device is fairly noisy, probably because the drier has been an add-in. Cheap, cheerful.

Pros: Ease to use, Value for money Cons: Noisy

Return to Zanussi

Phew.... What a relief we've returned to a Zanussi product. My last washer dryer, not Zanussi, lasted only 2 and a half years and was less than adequate from the day it was plumbed in.

Pros: Ease to use, Good build quality, Looks good, Quiet Cons: None

Well priced, impressed with drying ability

I'm very happy with this product which has proven so far to have a very efficient drying function (at least compared to my previous Bosch). It is easy to use and, if you're used to long washing programmes (common on dual washer dryers I believe), it has a quicker wash options. Overall very happy.

Extremely Disapiointed with Longevity

I have had the machine for 23 months and need to replace it. The machine intermittently stops during the rise cycles, as it won't drain. The fact that this is intermittent rules out blockage problems so it must be the programmer, which will cost a fortune to replace. If I had been happy with the machine I would have had it repaired given its age but I have never been completely happy with it. The laundry needs to be taken out immediately or it is extremely creased and the dryer is next to useless - only used it on about 3 occasions so bad is it and the 4kg max loads take up to 3 hours to dry. You have to use the cotton washes to get the 1400 rpm spin and these cycles take 2hrs 20 - 30 mins. Re-spinning does not cut this time down. The only positives are the build quality and the low noise level even when spinning.

Pros: Good build quality, Quiet Cons: Complicated, Creases badly , Dryer next to useless , Last only 23 months, Lengthy Wash time to get max spin speed

Good Machine

The Good: * Works well. * Much quieter than the machine it replaces (Brandt washer/drier which came with the house). * Big drum - plenty of capacity, especially for a built in machine. * Drying ability comparable to the machine it replaces. You have to bear in mind these machines can only dry about half of what they can wash at a time. As on the old machine, drying cottons is far more effective than drying synthetics. * The "time remaining" indicator is very useful. * I was lucky; the cupboard door hinges and magnetic latch are in exactly the same location as the old machine. This made fitting the cupboard door a breeze. The less good: * The hoses are quite short, particularly the waste hose. On the old machine it exited bottom left on the rear, whereas on this machine it exits top right. In our kitchen the waste connection is in the cupboard to the left and it only just reaches. * Standard cotton 40deg wash takes a long time (2:20). Fortunately there is a "Quick wash" button which does it in 55mins. * The machine beeps a lot to tell you its finished. However when drying it beeps before the door is unlocked and you have to wait a few minutes before you can actually unload it. * Personally I find the program selector dial a bit fiddly, and it's not always clear what program number is selected. I preferred the program buttons which some older Zanussi machines had. The build quality is adequate. As an electrical engineer I make the following observations. The mains cable seems a bit thin, but I checked and is acceptable for the rating of the appliance. The internal pulley on the back of the drum is made of plastic (nylon, I think). In older generations of machine this would have been a cast metal part. Service access it a bit limited - through a removable plastic panel on the rear of the machine. Overall I'm very happy with the machine so far. Only time will tell what long term reliability will be like.

Pros: Ease to use, Quiet, Value for money Cons: Short hoses
