    Inset Electric Fire Measurement Guide

Our easy guide will show you everything you need to know.

    • The most important dimension to consider when you’re shopping for a new inset electric fire is the Inset Depth.
    • You can find all the dimensions of our built-in appliances under the Key Information tab on our product pages.

    Inset depth

The inset depth is basically just the depth of the fire. This is the main measurement you need to know when you’re looking for a new model to fit in your fireplace. Inset depths can range from anything between 65mm and 98mm.

    Fireplace rebate

Now let’s look at your electric fire’s new home, the fireplace. The good news is a standard opening fireplace matches the standard measurements of electric fires. The only thing you need to know is the rebate of the fireplace. This is the space between the wall and the closest edge of the fireplace and it matches up with the inset depth of your chosen electric fire.

    Matching up

So, now you know everything there is to know about rebates and insets, let’s work out how it will all fit.

    • If the rebate of your fireplace is the same or bigger than the inset depth of your electric fire, it will sit against a flat wall. Here are some examples that will fit perfectly:
      • 70mm rebate, 70mm inset depth
      • 70mm rebate, 65mm inset depth

    • However, if the depth of your chosen electric fire is deeper than the fireplace rebate, you’ll need to get a builder in to knock through a space in the wall that’s big enough for the fire to slot in. For example:
      • 70mm rebate, 98mm inset depth
