Grab an American fridge freezer from AO
When you’re picking up a new fridge freezer, you might want a model with an ice or water dispenser for convenient drinks. You can get plumbed American-style fridge freezers that get the water straight from your pipes, but this does mean you need a professional to install it. The other option is a non-plumbed model, which avoids needing any extra work to fit but will mean you need to refill the tank every now and then.
The plumbed option is more convenient day-to-day and they’re not so difficult to install. They come with clear instructions and it’s not a big job for a plumber. Plus, they won’t make a big dent on your water and energy bill as modern fridge freezers are built with efficiency in mind. The main thing to think about is where your fridge freezer will sit and how close it will be to your pipework and whether you want the convenience of never needing to refill a tank. But if you don’t mind regularly refilling, we sell non-plumbed fridge freezers too.
Installation
Installing a plumbed American fridge freezer is fairly straightforward. Make room near your water supply and an electrical outlet, then you’ll need an adjustable wrench, Teflon tape, a water supply line, and maybe a drill. Turn off the main water supply, attach to the water line, securing with the adjustable wrench and tape. Once that’s sorted, the appliance will just need moving into place, plugging in, and the water supply turning back on. Job’s a good’un.
