Get the look with a black tumble dryer from AO
You have a wide choice of tumble dryers in different colours when it comes to brands, features, and sizes, so the first thing you want to do is figure out which type is best for your layout and your family. A black vented tumble dryer filters the moist air out through a vent system. That means you either need the vents pre-installed or you’ll need to have them fitted. Once installation’s sorted, you can just let it do its thing. But if you don’t want the faff of installation, a black condenser dryer might be a better shout. These models collect the moisture into a tank that’ll need removing and emptying every now and then. But if you don’t want that, look out for models with drainage kits included. They’ll let you connect a hose from your machine to a drain or sink, so it can empty itself. Then there’re heat pump tumble dryers, which are really efficient since they recycle the hot air generated by the programme to dry your clothes. But each cycle can take a bit longer because of this while saving you those precious pennies.
Think about capacity
Next, you’ll want to consider the capacity of the machine you’re after. For small households, you’ll only need a 6 or 7kg machine or you might struggle to fill it. But medium homes would benefit from an 8-10kg machine if you’ve got a fair amount of washing to dry off. Big families can benefit from machines that are 10kg+ since they’re more likely to generate lots of washing – which means lots of drying. 14kg machines are extra-large, so they’ll give you the most space if you find yourself putting on several cycles a week. Remember, when you’re picking out the right size, there needs to be a bit of extra space to make sure the air can get in between your clothes. Otherwise, you’ll find damp spots when you unload it, or the cycle might take longer to get everything completely dry. We recommend checking you can fit your arm on top of the load once it’s in the drum to make sure you’ll get the best results.
