7kg models are best suited to small households, while 9 – 10kg machines are great for medium and large families. You can even get machines with a hefty 12kg+ capacity – perfect for that super king duvet set.

Taking the right measurements

Measuring up correctly for your new washing machine is super important if you want it to fit in the right place on delivery day.

As most washers are designed to fit snugly underneath a counter, they tend to sit at 85cm tall. Freestanding machines can also be fitted anywhere there’s a water supply. Measure the width, depth, and height of the space and add 7cm at the back - you’ll need this space for connecting water pipes. Getting a built-in washing machine? Don’t forget to measure the cupboard door too.
