Good delivery but faulty controller

I’m trying to find a way to exchange my current controller because I’d only just opened it and the joysticks both have drift somehow, and the panel on the left side is higher out. I’m sure this is poor manufacturing on Nintendo’s part or some bumps in the delivery process that shook it loose or something but the concerning thing for me is that AO state that if I were to return it I’d only get a partial refund as they can’t sell it on even though the pro controller they sent me is faulty and I am not at fault for that. I’m not sure how to go about even sending it back because of the COVID-19 stuff going on but £50 is a lot to waste on a faulty controller.
