Poor SD picture quality
2/5
I purchased this TV largely off the back of the resoundingly good reviews. However, whilst the Ambilight feature is nice (and novel) and the picture quality in HD, or when streamed, is good, the SD picture quality is utterly shocking. And I mean really, really shocking.
This means when just flicking between Freeview / News channels for example, the image quality for those channels not in HD is so poor, it’s barely watchable. I get that’s not necessarily how 80% of the population are now watching TV, but for those that are, I would just avoid this TV, since to watch BBC News for example, you’ll have to watch through iPlayer if you want an adequate image quality.
Add to this, the TV has no App Store, so I’ve not been able to add Paramount+ for example. And the voice command only works if paired with Alexa, that’s not built in either.
I don’t know if some of these issues are operator error, but overall, I’m pretty disappointed by this TV. I know the price point is cheap, but with today’s technology I would have hoped even the lower end products would provide an SD viewing experience beyond that that we had in the 80’s.
