    Sausage and Chutney Rolls

    Food fit for a king

Resident Instagram foodie Emy is serving up a home-baked treat with these delicious sausage and chutney rolls. The ultimate finger food for the royal festivities, these little bangers pack a spicy kick and can be ready in just 12 minutes. Seems Charles won’t be the only star at the coronation street party.

    Here's what you'll need…

Recipe makes 16 small sausage rolls

     For the filling:

    • 500g sausage meat
    • 1tsp fennel seeds
    • 1tsp black pepper
    • 1/2tsp sea salt
    • 1tsp red chilli flakes
    • 3tbsp piccalilli relish

     Pastry:

    • 500g pack puff pastry
    • 1 egg for glazing
    • A pinch of seeds for the topping (optional)

    Here's how it's done...

    Step 1

Mix all filling ingredients together in a bowl until well combined. Scrunch everything together with your hands, it will be sticky, but it comes together fine.

    Step 2

Cut the puff pastel into two equal parts. Roll out one half into a long rectangle (about as thick as a pound coin).

    Step 3

Spread the piccalilli along the length of the pasty, just off centre and reserving a small boarder. Add 1/2 of the sausage mixture on top of the piccalilli, making a sausage shape.

    Step 4

Crack the egg into a bowl and briefly mix. Brush the egg wash along one side of the exposed pastry next to the sausage meat (it will act as a kind of glue). Fold one side over to meet the other & firmly press to seal. You should now have a massive sausage roll. Repeat with the second half of the pastry.

    Step 5

Cut into bite-sized portions, score the top of each and brush with the remaining egg wash. Sprinkle with seeds and pop the in the Air Fryer, with a little bit of space around each one. You may need to cook these in two batches.

    Step 6

Cut into bite-sized portions, score the top of each and brush with the remaining egg wash. Sprinkle with seeds and pop the in the Air Fryer, with a little bit of space around each one. You may need to cook these in two batches.
