How to set up your PlayStation Camera

Ready for all those VR games? We’ll help you set up your PlayStation Camera and show you how to set up facial recognition, so your PlayStation will log you in automatically.

How to set up your PlayStation camera

  • Connect the PlayStation Camera cable to its matching port in the back of your PS4 console
  • Place the camera where you want it to go – on top of the TV is usually the best place for it
  • Go to Devices in the Settings menu and head over to PlayStation VR
  • Select Adjust PS Camera. You’ll be able to see the camera’s view, so change the angle to make sure it can see you.
  • Position yourself where you’ll be sitting or standing and line yourself up with the squares on screen.

All set! Your camera is linked up and you’re ready to get stuck in to a virtual reality! If you ever need to readjust the camera, just retrace the steps above.

How to set up facial recognition on the PlayStation camera

  • In Settings, go to Users and select Login Settings
  • Click on Enable Facial Recognition, Face Data Management and press Start to begin
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to get your PlayStation camera to remember your face.

All set! Now when you power up your PS4, show your face and your controller’s light bar at the back to the camera and it’ll recognise you like an old friend.
