How to set up PlayStation VR

This guide has everything you need to help you set up your PlayStation VR so you’re ready to experience a whole new reality of gaming.

What's in the PlayStation VR box?

Here's a rundown of what you'll get in the PlayStation VR box so you can double check you’ve got everything before you continue:

  • VR headset
  • HDMI Cable
  • USB Cable
  • AC adaptor
  • AC power cord
  • A pair of headphones
  • Processor unit
  • Printed materials

How do I set up my PlayStation VR?

  • If you've already got a PlayStation 4 set up, unplug the HDMI cable from the TV and connect it to the back of the PSVR's processor unit labelled "HDMI PS4". If not, we’ve got another handy guide on how to set up a PS4 right here.
  • Plug the HDMI cable you got with the PlayStation VR into the other port - "HDMI TV" - and plug the other end into the TV.
  • Take the USB cable and connect the processor unit to the PlayStation 4 console.
  • Next, you'll need to plug it into the wall so connect the AC adaptor to the processor unit and the power cord, then plug it into a socket of your choice.
  • Grab the VR headset and plug it into the front of the processor unit. There are two ports, all you have to do is line up the symbols and connect away.
  • Finally, plug the stereo headphones into the jack on the underside of the headset. When you’re not using them, there’s a handy holder on the sides you can pop each earbud in.

All set! Double check everything is connected properly and turn on the TV, PlayStation console and PlayStation VR headset. Once on, the back of the headset should glow a lovely shade of blue.
