Single oven measurement guide

Our easy guide will show you everything you need to know.

  • Most single ovens will fit into an oven housing unit. Manufacturers tend to build ovens to a standard or compact size, so there’s a good chance that you won’t have any issues.
  • The only dimension you need to note down is the height on both standard and compact ovens.
  • If you’re replacing, upgrading or designing your dream kitchen from scratch, you can find all the dimensions of our built-in appliances under the Key Information tab on our product pages.
  • If you don’t fancy installing your new single oven yourself, we can do all the work for you. Click here to find out more.

Compact single ovens

Compact single ovens sit at eye level in your oven housing unit and are always powered by electric, never gas. They have a maximum height of 45.8cm, so you'll only need to measure from the top to the bottom of your existing oven. You won't have to worry about the width or depth as these are standard across all models.

Standard single ovens

Standard single ovens can sit under your worktop or fit in at eye level in an oven housing unit and can be gas or electric. Again, you won't need to know the width or depth of your new appliance, just the height, which will be 45.9cm or higher. So, to make sure your chosen oven will fit, just measure from the top to bottom of your existing model in your kitchen.

Connection

One other thing to consider is the fuel type of your oven. If you’re replacing like-for-like (so electric for electric, or gas for gas) then it’s a simple swap, just make sure you’ve got a certified professional to install it for you.

If you want to switch fuel types, or you’re building a kitchen from scratch, you’ll need help from an electrician or gas engineer to make sure you’ve got the supply you need. Electric double ovens need hard-wiring into a 32AMP circuit, and can’t just be plugged in, while gas ovens need a dedicated gas supply.
