    Fab Coffee Shop Quality Coffee

    4/5
Still learning daily, easy to follow users guide. Enjoying a proper coffee each day and love that i can have a mild strength compare to hubby whom loves strong coffee! Can adjust each drink to suit individual taste. Defo recommend to coffee lovers. Easy to clean. Only downside is small bean hopper.

    Overall a great machine!

    5/5
Overall this machine has been great so far - the most important thing is that the coffee quality is fantastic across all the recipes! The menu function on the machine itself is a bit fiddly beyond the basic options accessible by the main buttons, but the UX on the App is very good and easy to use - highly recommend using it! Machine is very quiet and also looks good. Water tank does fill up quickly (but I think common with all of these machines due to rinsing etc.) and is a little fiddly to empty/pour out without spilling. The bean holder could be a little larger - the split option is clever but I'm not sure how useful it is in reality....would have preferred one single larger one. These are all relatively minor points though - overall a great machine!

Great machine unresolved issues with milk frother

    3/5
It’s a great coffee machine but we are having issues with the milk frother. We could not fault this machine until the milk frother started playing up. It spits and doesn’t appear to be drawing the milk through properly. We have tried full fat, skimmed, oat, almond, soya and coconut milk and it does it all on them. It has been back to melitta customer services on 2 occasions where they have had the machine for 3 weeks. Not made any changes and said it’s fine. We are getting close to the point of complaining officially to melitta. It’s a real shame as really liked the machine.

    Fantastic machine

    5/5
Can you make better coffee than the Barista TS Smart by hand? Perhaps, if you're a very good barista. For the rest of us with neither the skill nor the time to faff about with grinding beans and getting the brew just right, this machine will knock out basically any kind of coffee you like that's so good that you'll be disappointed by a lot of cafes. It's also largely idiot-proof, it'll remind and guide you through any cleaning and maintenance that it needs. The phone app for its Bluetooth connectivity is also surprisingly decent, and I've not encountered any bugs or glitches while using it. For guests, it's easy to just hand them the phone so they can spec their coffee to their taste. Just bear in mind that this a large machine and it's surprisingly deep. This was fine for my large kitchen, but if yours is smaller do take the time to measure and make sure you've got the space for this absolute unit. Otherwise, I have no qualms about recommending this even against more expensive competitors.

    A** Machine

    5/5
I’m am chuffed to bits with my coffee machine. It’s the best machine I’ve owned and I’ve tried many. I generally get through one a year as we’re a coffee loving household. It’s fast, quiet and super simple to use. I especially love the app. You can adjust every aspect of you chosen beverage. It even has a ground coffee shoot, which is great if you need to make a decaf. It cleans itself after the milk frothing and steams everything out. Genius! Can’t think of any negatives. Well worth it

My first bean to cup machine

    4/5
I'm no coffee buff or home barista but I wanted to upgrade from a Tassimo machine due to the lack of variety pod machines offer. After some extensive review reading I opted for this machine as I'm too lazy to faff around with espresso machines, measuring, tamping and manual milk frothing. It's a big machine. Not overly wide but depth it will almost take up your kitchen work surface. I don't have it under a cabinet as that would make getting the water tank out from the back left side awkward. It can be done as it's just lift slightly and remove but just easier to have space above the machine. The controls are pretty straight forward and the instruction manual is ok. Not brilliant but goes through the essentials clear enough. The hopper is quick to grind and though not whisper quiet isn't ridiculously loud. Handy having two compartments as you can have two different types of bean on the go at once. The manual says one compartment is for espresso beans and the other for less strong beans but you can put which ever type of bean you like in. Just make sure you are selecting the correct compartment to grind the bean when making. Extra bonus of being able to use pre-ground coffee via another compartment. The preset recipes are very good although a little light on quantity. My idea of a flat white or latte isn't that same as the machines so I find myself adjusting the recipes which is fun to experiment with. All changes can be saved. If during the process the machine either runs out of water, coffee or milk it will prompt you to refill and them ask you if you wish to carry on. It will not waste your beverage mid creation because it has run out of a component. Some reviews I've read have commented on the temperature of the coffee, just check the settings of the beverage and change it from normal to high, this can be saved so job done. Another gripe I've read about is the app. I prefer using the app to the machine as the layout of the app is better and easier to use. Shame Melitta just didn't put a larger screen on the machine and use the app software on there. Bluetooth connectivity works just have to be a little patient. Once the connection is set up, every time you use the app you have to give it a few seconds for your phone and the machine to connect. It is Bluetooth after all not wi-fi. It's not instant. Once they are connected the cross in the top right hand corner of the app becomes a tick and you are good to go. I've had no issue once the connection has been established. One last thing the drip tray is shallow but runs the entirety of the bottom of the machine. It can hold a fair amount of water but just be careful not to spill when removing and taking it to the sink. The self cleaning options on the machine are very good and will give itself a rinse when you turn the machine on, when you turn it off and after creating a milk based drink. These can be turned off and on depending on preference. This is my first bean to cup machine and I'm chuffed to bits with it. Expensive but does what I want it to and does it well. Ultimately the coffee will only be as good as the beans you use. Plus at the time of purchase Melitta and AO had an offer of a free gift that comprised of X2 espresso, X2 coffee, X2 latte glasses, 2kg of beans, a travel mug and a care kit. Fingers crossed there's still an offer when you buy one.

    Better Brew with Barista TS

    4/5
Initial set-up to achieve your perfect coffee is fiddly but certainly worth the effort. Much easier through the smartphone app. Being able to set up your perfect individual coffees for any mood is absolutely brilliant and the standard, built in drinks are excellent. Being able to simply adjust to taste and then save to a profile to recall at will is a luxury. If you love your coffee, enjoy a variety of brews, enjoy experimenting for perfection, then this is the coffee machine for you.

    Great coffee but rubbish app.

    4/5
Overall I'm very pleased with this coffee machine. It makes an excellent coffee and the machine is easy to use and clean and is very quiet and really that's all you can ask for! However the one big problem is the Melitta app. In a word, horrendous and I can't believe they can't improve it. It's a great idea in principle, keeping two dozen coffee receipts on your mobile that you can tailor to your personal taste would be brilliant but it's so let down by the execution. The connection is bluetooth not wi-fi and you have to physically turn the machine on before using it and it has a time out so you can't ask it to prep you a coffee in advance. Also the machine is only able to remember one device at a time so we can't have the app on both my phone and my wife's. This is exacerbated by the fact that you have to rescan for a bluetooth connection pretty much every time you turn it on making the whole thing frustrating! You can operate basic functions from the machine itself so I tend to just stick to this but for the cost I would really expect them to have sorted something better than this! Don't misunderstand me, this is a brilliant machine that makes remarkable coffee and it is definitely worth considering but don't base your choice on the fact this has an app. TL:DR - Great machine making excellent coffee let down by an app that would embarrass a Windows Phone.
