    Belling failure

    1/5
Awful Looks the part but is over-gizmoed and indeed the amount of steam that comes out of it at times is downright dangerous. Had Bellings before and really rated them but this one No way ! We had three attempts to get sorted but eventually gave up. We now have a Hisense and it is great.

Unreliable and the manufacturer doesn't care about you

Broke down 1 year and 3 days. Belling wanted £118.80 to fix it - that is a whopping 26.5% of the purchase price to repair a barely 1 year old oven. Do yourself a favour, buy another brand.

    Disapppointed

Impossible to get an accurate temperature. The dial has markings every 50c so I put it on 200c and using a professional oven thermometer it only gets to around 170. After putting in my food the temperature drops and I have to raise it what looks like 220-230 on the dial just to get back to 170. Needs constant monitoring to ensure cooking time. When opening the door so much water drips all over the floor through the gap between the oven and the door. I am very disappointed and think I will return it.

Smart looking oven but sadly plagued with problems

    2/5
Our purchase of this oven was cursed. First oven delivered had a fault with the main fan oven and it would not work (no light and no heat) on installation so it was removed and taken away again by AO same day. A second oven was ordered, delivered and installed a couple of days later without any problem. The second oven worked but developed a fault on day 2 where it would start beeping at random times in the middle of the night, waking the household and causing a lot of lost sleep. The beeping began anywhere from 6 to 12 hours after cooking dinner. It wasn’t consistent but did happen every night. The timer function had never been used so it wasn’t that. In the end we just tried to remember to turn the oven off at the mains after cooking whilst we tried to reject it as faulty. It’s not practical to have to reset the oven every time you want to cook and forgetting to turn it off at the mains meant another disturbed nights sleep. After a very tense call to AO who wanted an engineer report before they would accept it as faulty, Belling agreed to credit note the oven without an engineer report. It has now been removed and replaced with a different brand and model which unfortunately has a much smaller oven capacity. Not ideal for our family but it was what was available in price range, in stock and what would fit around our existing gas hob installation. Was this a dodgy batch of Belling ovens? I don’t know. But we were definitely unlucky. I certainly wouldn’t buy another Belling appliance in a hurry as I simply don’t trust the components used. That said, the main fan oven itself when cooking did the job, it got up to temp quick and stayed at the set temperature. I can’t say anything about the other functions (top oven/grill, semi or auto cook or the defrost setting) as I didn’t use them. The function/temp control knobs are fine although others complain that the temp settings are too vague, I had no problem with them as they were similar in design to the original broken Whirlpool oven. The digital control panel is fiddly to start with and made more cumbersome by having to take the oven out of standby mode each time. Belling could really do with rethinking and ditching that function. The oven looks smart, and has a big main oven capacity which is what I chose it for. It’s a real shame the components of the ovens we experienced were faulty/ poor quality. AO staff have mostly been helpful throughout and I can’t fault the installation guys who came three times in three weeks to remove and fit a new oven. I can’t give this model of oven more than 2 stars, but I would give 4 stars to AO customer service staff and 5 stars to the different installation teams.

I do not like this oven. I bought it because of the reviews they must me fiction. As they it isn’t what toy see on the tin!!!! It is awkward to use. Sold as a built under but says built in on the box. Time function awful having to press the minute function until it reaches the correct time line. The temperature is not the same as the recipe suggested. used it for baking once and not very succesful, tried to ecxchange but would lose too much money. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

    Uninspiring and impractical!

I’ve had a Belling oven for the past decade so it was a no brainier ordering a new one . However I have been majorly disappointed. Firstly the oven dials jump 50 degrees making it really hard to guess temperatures. So I’ve had a few burnt cakes and biscuits! The new oven seems to have a much smaller main oven which makes it harder for family cooking. Lastly it’s much harder to remove the internal glass to clean. Previously you simply pull the glass towards you to remove but now you have struggle removing the plastic top by decompressing buttons and it’s fiddly to put back . It’s a shame that my old 6 year old model seems more superior and little improvements have been made . Sadly I don’t think I’ll be buying Belling ! again !

    The jury is still out

Being restricted to a built under oven, after much deliberation I chose this Belling B1702FPCT. Was it the best choice, well I shall never know. The first delivery was not connected due to lack of fixings, a second model a week later received the same decision however my husband managed to adapt the existing fittings to suit. Not good service from Belling. I had chosen the model with largest capacity but it is still smaller than my previous model. A shame the catalytic linings only cover a small area of each side panel, nothing on rear or roof. The thermostat is far from accurate being between 20 and 30 degrees lower than the settings in the lower oven, 20 degrees higher in the top oven. Both ovens seem extremely slow and reluctant to brown items - sausages cooked in bottom oven at 200 degrees took an hour and a half., small jacket potatoes again at 200 took 2 hours I can't commit to a definite meal time as yet. I watched a lemon drizzle cake which normally takes 50 minutes on 160 take 85 mins on 180 in order too get it brown. The markings for settings are quite hard to see palrticularly as I have eye problems. Writing is small and dark and temperature range of 50 degrees is not ideal, a lot of positioning guesswork. Maybe after time I will get to like it, but I may yet be rejecting it.
