    Great so Far

    5/5
I spent a long time researching the concept of heat pump dryers. The efficiency improvements of the heat pump dryer are due to using lower drying temperature and by 'recycling' the heat. This is perhaps not the best place for a thermodynamics lecture, so anyway.... The temperature in the drum, where the washing is, is a lot lower than that of a condenser dryer. The heat is generated in the condenser side of the heat pump (the hot side). While the drum temperature is relatively low the water vapor is still extracted effectively by having relatively cold temperature in the evaporator side of the heat pump. (In a condenser dryer the cold side is room temperature). This condenses-out the water vapor to keep the drying air dry. I was attracted by the energy savings, but more so by the lower drying temperatures which I hoped would allow us to be less careful about drying delicate stuff. With the old condenser dryer we ended putting a lot of clothes on radiators for fear of shrinking them. So far, after 3 weeks use, I've not shrunk anything and its great just chucking-in a full mixed load of washing without worrying, sorting or putting stuff on radiators. Not tried to dry the daughters tights yet, but will experiment with an old pair. I'm not accepting any responsibility for your clothes getting spoiled, but so far I have dried many 'Do Not Tumble Dry' labelled items without any problems. No condensation in house. It play's a giddy tune when cycle is finished. Amusing but pointless. Big water container. You can also plumb the water outlet to the sink drain if you can be bothered. It drys well but takes longer, say another 50% time compared with the condenser dryer, particularly on 'mixed' setting, which takes about 3hrs. If you like your clothes fried to a crisp and red-hot when you open the door, then you might be disappointed, but it does dry fine despite what I've read in some reviews.

    Was hoping for better

Drys the clothes well, I have no issues there. But, if you leave any clothes in the dryer, even for a few hours or overnight, they smell really damp. I found soggy fluff in the heat exchanger and realised this was the source of the smell. The heat exchanger light is always flashing even though I now clean it after every use to try and keep the smell down. Samsung support told me to move the pipe down a bit (the same level as the washing machine plumbing) so hopefully this may help the horrible smell. Not great on a really expensive machine that is only a few months old

Don’t buy Samsung air pump tumble dryer.

    1/5
Bought an air pump Samsung dryer as a replacement for our old Hotpoint condenser dryer. Help the environment, lower running costs etc, but high purchase cost! However it is useless, tried all the settings, adhered to weights of clothing and fabric types. The machine adds time on through moisture probes, continually cycles for ages but the clothes don’t dry, no condensate is collected. AO “help” website advised we contact Samsung directly (abdicating responsibility, too focussed on selling warranties than acting on standard ones), Spoke to Samsung call centre as advised, they passed it onto UK service desk, got an email explaining due to Covid this may take a few days to phone me, nearly a week later and no contact), Shoddy to say the least. Ps I gave one star because can’t give it zero

    Great dryer, tough maintenance

    3/5
This is genuinely a great dryer and I'm very glad I bought it, but after having used it consistently for almost a year, there are a couple of things that might make me reconsider this dryer. The first is the lint trap: when you put it back in the dryer after scraping out all the lint, it sends up a cloud of dust into the dryer drum, which makes you feel like you're just adding dust back to your clean laundry. The second is the filter that's accessed through a special compartment that sits on the bottom left side of the front of the dryer. While this doesn't need to be cleaned every time you do a load, it does need to be cleaned fairly often (I get the warning light to clean probably once every 3-4 loads). It's VERY difficult to clean. They give you a little brush to help clean out this secondary dust trap, and it just doesn't work. You end up just mashing all the lint to one end of the metal catchment bars and it sends a load of lint flying everywhere into whatever room your dryer is in - I find that 4/5 times when I check whether the warning light has gone off following a 'clean', it still doesn't think it's clean enough. It's also hard to access, even with the brush, which means I regularly end up hitting my knuckles (and sometimes cutting them) against the sides of the compartment. So while this is a great dryer, maintenance is a real pain. I also took one star off because the delivery and installation of this dryer with AO was a disaster.

Smart looking and impressive in action

    5/5
I am really impressed with this tumble dryer. It is efficient, dries cothes really well and without much creasing and does contain the heat within the appliance rather than the room and clothing becoming hot It is easy to use, shuts itself off and you can see the time counting down which is a good feature. It has lots of extra features such as quick dry or time dry which are useful and it calculates the drying time to what is put in it. There is nothing to fault. Excellent!

    Avoid at all costs

I hope people get to read this review as the poor ones clearly get covered by the “good” reviews. We’ve had this machine for almost a year. It’s terrible. It can take 4hrs to dry a load. Every setting takes 3-4hrs. The advertised 35min quick cycle doesn’t dry in less than an hour and a half, even if it’s just 1 shirt. Worse than the machine itself is the mind boggling lunacy you have to go through dealing with Samsung support. Our 3rd phone call with them ended after they wanted to know how many pieces of underwear we put in with our other clothes. Finally we got hold of AO support directly and they have managed to get us an engineer appointment. This was not a cheap dryer and should be avoided at all costs

    Efficient and gentle on clothes

Initially did some research on heat pump tumble dryers and although more expensive than the condenser type, it would pay off through cheaper running costs. This model ticked all the boxes in terms of volume it can handle, variety of cycles, interior light and most importantly optimal dry meaning it can detect when clothes are dry and switch off. You still have the ability to run it like a traditional condenser tumble dryer through the options settings and selecting your time period. I love the shirt dry option and the quick dry option if I'm in a hurry. i love the sleek look.

Machine delivered nearly two weeks ago & not working properly. Was promised an engineer to call out on mon the 1st ( but nothing ). Then was told an engineer will be calling on the 15th because everyone is busy. I think I deserve to get my money back ( terrible service seeing as this tumble dryer cost over £650) Not happy at all ??
