Decent fridge with a couple of odd quirks, replacement water filters are very expensive.
3/5
Overall, the fridge itself is worthy of 4/5. It's efficient, very quiet (most of the time, see below), it looks great and does everything as expected. Not quite 5/5 stars for the following minor complaints though...
1) The water dispenser is slow and noisy. There is a loud 'clunk' every time the water valve opens & closes. When it refills the ice maker in the middle of the night, it gives you a jump scare!
2) The bottom two door shelves are virtually useless. Only the smallest of sauce / beer bottles fit in them. Any larger bottles need to be higher up the door. I would have preferred to sacrifice a bit of veg drawer space for deeper door shelves. The top 3 door shelves are a decent depth though, and slope back very slightly to keep things from falling out, which is a nice feature.
3) The freezer section, although large in volume, seems quite narrow. It is very deep (front to back), but the width means anything other than small pizzas need to be stored vertically. Something to bare in mind if you occasionally put larger trays/bowls of prepared food in the freezer. My old equivalent Samsung American F/F was a good 5-6cm wider in the freezer section, despite being smaller overall.
Water Filter: The biggest issue I have with this fridge, and the main reason for the 3/5 review, is the cost of the replacement water filters. The (internal) water filter is a simple quick release/reload system, similar to how you would load a printer toner cartridge. However, the downside to this (presumably proprietary) design, is the replacement filters are expensive, and difficult to find. The part code is 'HRXWF' if you want to research yourself. I would have gone for a different brand/model of fridge if I'd have known this before making my purchase. Hopefully the filter costs will come down, or third-party companies eventually offer something compatible, but I will not be buying filters until that happens, and just won't replace the filter when prompted.
Other points worth noting...
1) The instruction manual (online only), isn't great, there is some fairly poor translation throughout, making installation and initial setup of the fridge somewhat difficult to decipher, but not impossible if you take your time (I am a tech-savvy person as well).
2) The fridge is 'Wi-Fi enabled', but I can't see any point in connecting it. The only benefit of the app is for warnings of any faults. Every other feature they mention (such as knowing what's in your fridge and expiry dates) all require you to manually input the data when you load the fridge, which is pretty pointless if you ask me. I would rather not have any Wi-Fi connectivity and have the fridge be a bit cheaper.
3) The lighting isn't the best, just a single LED at the top of each half, the next model up (HSW79F18CIMM) offers much better lighting, but seems identical otherwise and wasn't worth the extra cost to me.
4) The stainless steel finish, whilst looking very nice, is a fingerprint magnet. It cleans off easily, but it is a daily task to wipe it down!
Overall, a decent fridge/freezer (assuming it remains reliable), just the replacement filter situation really soured my purchase satisfaction.
