Very good except for incorrect convection oven temp

    4/5
I’ve only had this a few days and so far it’s generally working well. The auto features are awesome......perfect jacket potato’s in 15mins :) Before purchasing I was aware from reviews here that the convection oven was likely to be troublesome and having done a lot of baking recently (oh the joys of lockdown.....) was keen to try it out, so I conducted a few temperature experiments first using my old fashioned cooking thermometer. I found that the temperature thermostat regulation for this machine is out by some 30C. A 150C setting gives an actual oven temp of 180C. Add to this the fact that as this is a fan oven, and further adjustments need to be made to compensate for conventional oven temperatures (as given in most recipes). So......I now know that if I want to bake at a conventional 180C I need to set the oven setting of this machine to 130C. That’s 130 + 30 (for the machine thermostat error) + 20 (for the conversion to fan oven). This would explain the frequent complaints about burnt cakes etc....... Panasonic please note !!

Very under engineered microwave. It has several faults, known to Panasonic which become apparent when using. The main problem with this oven is the action of the glass turntable. When under power it judders and does not turn smooth and evenly. This is caused by three things. The drive motor has poor drive bearings, the transfer drive dog which is a very poor fit on the motor shaft, does not deliver equal forces to the turntable due to its design of a one sided contact drive and finally the turntable support wheels which the glass turntable sits on, has had to be modified, so you may be supplied with a faulty support wheel assembly from new. I’ve had this repaired after 4 months of light use. All three parts have been replaced but the result is only marginally better. The drive dog that engages with the glass turntable slips round every so often then ‘clunks’ as the drive dog engages again. Very, very poor engineering design. One more thing, I live in the north west, if you call out an engineer within the guarantee period, I had to pay a £40 fee, only refundable if they deemed the repair genuine! Good luck if you’ve decided to buy this oven.

    Slimline Update of Original.

    4/5
Sleek & slimline update on my beloved 15yr old original. Marginally more complicated re buttons. Now stainless steel, rather than enamel lined, so doesn't look as solid but performs (so far) very well. Only 4 stars as no facility for a shelf - so cupcakes, mince pies, tray bakes etc almost impossible, everything has to be on turntable! No 40c 'proving/keep warm' setting either. VERY difficult to register product with Panasonic. Overall very nice but doubt it will last 15yrs!

    Disappointing

This microwave was to replace a worn out unit by Panasonic which was 14 yrs old, but basically. However this new one is noisy, the turntable rotates in jerks and they have discontinued the lower level stand. I am very disappointed.

Microwave door not flush with unit.

    3/5
We like Panasonic, but with this item, we were under the impression that the whole unit was metal, but the door is plastic and flimsy. We only unboxed it a few days ago, but already it has a fault with the door. It doesn't align flush with the right hand panel. {Top does, bottom doesn't). I am worried that this is detrimental to the use of the oven, especially if the problem gets worse. It has probably had some strain put on it, to push it out at the bottom. Mr. Harrison.

    Great product

I had an earlier version of this Panasonic combination microwave oven which lasted 13 years. The turntable stopped turning but the oven part was fine. I loved it and only the updated version of it would do for me. It's lighter and depth-wise shorter than the previous one. It can be pushed back when it's cool but needs 6in at the back for good air flow around the oven when it's heating. The feet do move when you open and shut the door but I just put some rubber feet on them and the oven stays in place. Of course, that means you can't move it back towards the back wall after using it. The oven is easy to use and the directions are pretty clear. There are photos to help in the setup for each type of cooking which I like very much. I would highly recommend this product.

A step up from the old model

    5/5
This unit was to replace a much older combi microwave that was itself a Which? best buy in its time. That was large and had internal shelves, but died. The new panny is very nice. The lack of shelves initially gave me some concern although that has not come to be an issue yet. The enamel platter is large and holds quite a lot if you arrange things sensibly. The auto roast programme for jacket potatoes is excellent, and I was very impressed with the auto setting for breaded fish and oven chips. They came out really well and in only about 15 mins. it bakes pastry well. It does have a strong emphasis on weight of goods to be cooked but it is not onerous. I have a feeling it takes longer to pre-heat, though i also have a notion that the older unit lied about the temperature so i discount this, or will do when i forget the old arrangement. The spicy potato recipe is very nice and quick to make. So all in all a good purchase. looks good, has a good internal light, a tad noisy in convection but not unbearable. It does slip about on the worksurface though, especially as the door takes more effort than it ought to open. I need to find either better feet for it, or a mat to go underneath. But I would overall recommend it if you are in the market for a combi unit.

Good looking product and technically excellent but lacking some user friendliness

    4/5
love white with black lettering, so much easier to read lettering compared to stainless steel Panasonic we had previously. Don't like; its primarily a 'microwave' should use same nomenclature as oven title not 'micropower'. That should be listed first alongside the timing settings, because the timing settings are mainly going to be used for microwaving, not three down after convection and grill. 1 press should be 'high', 2 should be 'medium' 3 should be ' low' and then 4 'defrost' instead of interposing 'defrost' between 'high' and 'medium'. theforce required to actuate an action is somewhat excessive and causes the oven to move backwards on the working surface so it has to be constantly repositioned, also, anyone with a degree of disability in their hands would find it difficult to activate. All minor irritations but untidy, perhaps too much concentration on technical aspects rather than user friendly aspect.
