Very happy with the way bread comes out it will take time to get used to different settings but to do basic white or brown bread is simple.and I'm sure others will be . Once i try different breads. I am 100% happy with this and the smell when baking is fantastic.

    Great Bread Maker

    5/5
Excellent bread maker and much better quality than our previous Panasonic bread maker which had a plastic casing. This one looks better in appearance and quality. Finally, so far so good with the loaves we have made with all turning out really well. Recommend this :-)

    Time will tell!!

My previous Panasonic Breadmaker was an SD2511 and in my opinion was far superior to this model. Firstly, the machine seems not as stable as the 2511 and shakes about when kneading. Secondly, for some unknown reason it throws flour out of the pan and into the oven compartment, which then needs cleaning up after each loaf, even on the smallest of size loaf. Thirdly, the display window is not illuminated and the lettering is so small that I almost need a magnifying glass to read what operation changes I am making. Fourthly, I question why they seem to have reverted to putting the yeast into a seperate compartment for dispensing part way through the process - I found this to be unreliable with a previous model and Fifthly, I am not sure why but the ingredients list for the basic white loaf have been drastically altered, more butter?, sugar? and salt?, and the resultant loaf is very unsatisfactory. I have not tried any of the other recipes that I used regularly on my 2511 - eg. brioche, panettone, ciabatta, spicy fruit loaf - but they also seem to have been altered. I am therefore using the recipe book from my 2511 and so far the basic white is as much of a success with the 2540. The recipe book that comes with the 2540 is smaller and has fewer recipes available but an included leaflet points you toward their website for more recipes, which I find most unsatisfactory. Thank goodness I have kept my 2511 recipe book. All in all I just hope that this model does not prove to be woefully inferior to my old model. Time will tell.

Makes great bread. Would be better if display was backlit but that’s about the only niggle.
