It's a dishwasher
4/5
It's a bit early to give a proper review, but AO (who presumably know best) invited me to do so in exchange for entry into a prize draw to win back the cost, and it was quite expensive, so here we are.
I am not, nor do I have any intention of ever becoming, a dishwasher expert, so please take this with a pinch of salt - especially those of you in hard water regions.
The Bosch Serie 6 SMS6EDW02G Standard Dishwasher (white), entirely in line with expectation, washes dishes. It also washes a wide variety of other items, though it would be fair to say that the washing of such things as cutlery, cups, pans etc. did also fall into its expected remit, and I have not been left stunned in awe at its capabilities in this respect.
Based on the four times I've used it, I can say that it appears to wash dishes better than I do by hand. I would consider myself to be fairly average in this department, which, for the sake of argument, I have assumed would equate to a rating of three stars. I don't know quite what would warrant a five star rating - though I feel like five stars can only really be earned over a longer term. I have therefore settled, being pushed as I am, on a four star rating at this time.
I haven't read the instructions properly yet, AND YET I have been able to get the thing to work fine, which is FAB and very much in its favour. There's still one funny shaped plastic fitting that fell out when I opened it for the first time, and which I'm yet to find the home of, but it doesn't seem to be critical to basic function, so that is also FAB and of mild relief. I do however have bags of similarly enigmatic items which I have accumulated over the years, and I resent the power they have over me and my inability to dispose of them. But I also acknowledge that by the time they really get under my skin I have forgotten what appliance they came from, so it would be unfair to allow this to influence my review today.
I would not recommend this dishwasher to anyone because it's the only dishwasher I am familiar with at present (I can’t even remember the last one we had any more, so little do I care), and I'd prefer to have a broader knowledge of the field of play before I influence the buying habits of others. THAT SAID, I would not go out of my way to recommend that anyone specifically doesn't buy this dishwasher if they fancy it. We bought it, and it is yet to do anything offensive. Hopefully we'll look back in a few years and feel like we totally NAILED IT.
So far it has cost us nearly £150 per load, though I would expect this to go down over time.
