    My new dual fuel cooker

    5/5
I looked long and hard for a dual fuel cooker which involved reading alot of reviews for different brands until i came across smeg. After reading and watching countless reviews on forums and you tube, i finally decided to buy the smeg 60cm dual fuel cooker. I was apprehensive at first because it was expensive and like all reviews you have to take the bad reviews on board as well. Firstly, the operating maunal is all online. It took a bit of time to go through but was very informative with the symbols on the cooker. Secondly, the temperature heats up quickly and accurately making it a breeze with home cooking as the circular movement oven option helps with cooking different foods all at same time. This has allowed me to produce fantastic results for my cakes. really like the cooker as it looks and cleans very well. Thirdly, the prolytic cleaning function is great as i cook alot of roasts, i will get oil splatters on the side and below. This cleaning function helps as no need for chemicals, just water and fairy washing up liquid. Lastly, the grill which is inside the oven does take a bit of time to heat up but at least you can control the amount of heat and you are able to close the door whilst grill is on. This you can watch as you cook through the oven lit doors. Great light exposure inside the oven. The other downside with this cooker is the heating options for the oven go in increments of 25. It would be a better option to install electronic screen for oven temperature as for the price paided for this type of cooker. My previous cannon cooker had an electronic screen so it didnt have to guess like my new smeg. Only drawback. Previously i had a cannon professional 60cm dual fuel cooker which had solarplus grill, which meant it heated up fast. This is the only drawback for heating the grill otherwise great piece of equipment. 2 years parts and Labour warranty when you register with smeg. Before the end of warranty shop around as there are alot of companies offering extended warranty at better prices than Smeg.

    Grear dual fuel cooker

    5/5
Really well built with cast iron fittings on the top and a very large oven. Dual fuel is great - all the 'cookability' of gas for the hobs and a very even temperature electric fan oven. The other advantage is that it only needs a normal 13 amp electricity connection rather than a specially wired cooker point.

AVOID this cooker at all costs!

DO NOT BUY THIS OVEN. We've had it for about 5 months now and it is awful. The main gripe is that the fan doesn't shut off when the oven is off and it goes on when the grill is on, then runs for 20min when it's off. The kitchen is a noisy racket. There is a nasty rattle also that never fails to annoy when the fan is on. Additionally the burners aren't laid out right and you're always juggling pans around on the stove to try to get the right heat for the phase of cooking you are doing. Which? got it completely wrong then they gave this oven a top review, which we referred to when buying. Zero stars except that it looks good, but it looks as if I have to provide 1 to get the review to register

    Smeg, a bakers dream

Sleek and stylish. More importantly it is efficient.. the speed that pots on the hob reach boiling surprised me, I didn’t realise how slow my old oven was. Having the fan oven has made my baking more efficient too now that I am able to use both shelves at the same time. I wish it had a hob safety lid. I also would like another shelf in the oven.
