Review of Smeg Concert SUL92MX9-1 after 1 week.

    4/5
I have only had this cooker for a week and this is the first time I’ve had a cooker with a multifunction oven. It’s taken me longer looking up how to use the different functions than it did to cook the food and Im still wondering what to use the ECO function for. When using the fan oven I’ve reduced the temperature by 20 degrees and the time by 10mins an hour (compared to conventional oven recipes) The main oven comes with grill tin and rack, wire shelf and a big oven tray, instructions tell you to remove the ovenware not in use when cooking, I would have preferred another wire shelf to the big oven tray as I already have roasting tins etc. I have not yet tried the vapour clean so can’t comment on that but really hope it works. The main oven is a decent size, especially as you can cook on different levels at the same time. I will admit, the first thing I cooked using the fan oven, I burned, it was a frozen pizza but Sunday lunch turned out good with crispy roast potatoes! I Used the base element with the fan to cook a quiche, I didn’t bake the pastry case blind first and the quiche cooked in 26 minutes, I was surprised it was so quick. I have only used the smaller oven for Yorkshire pudding, they were ok. It is very narrow but I knew that before I bought it but it will still be very useful. The hob is similar to what I had before but I like that it has automatic ignition. I really like the programmer and timer, if you want to you can programme the oven to come on, cook your food and turn off when cooked. It’s also a clock and minute minder which is also very useful. One of the main reasons I bought this style of cooker was that I did not want an oven that was almost on the floor because of bending down and lifting hot food from it. The base of the oven is 12 inches above the floor. I am sure once I get used to this cooker it will be fine, I just wish the booklet that came with it gave better instructions.

    Excellent style and quality

SMEG is a recognised and respected make, really stylish and loved the quality Note for those purchasing this range cooker. There is only one shelf in each of the ovens and whilst there are grill trays no handles are provided. Shelves and handles can only be purchased on line, not cheap.

Love it to bits. Only two minor gripes - why only one shelf for the big oven. It needs two, so I had to buy another separately - the instructions for the timer are really poor. I downloaded the bigger instruction book from Smeg but ended up finding better instructions for a completely different make of cooker with a similar timer.

    Good contemporary looking range

I like the look of Smeg range cookers, much more contemporary and much less country cottage than many other brands. This is Smeg's cheapest model but still ticks that box for us. The oven is very quiet (compared to our old oven) and heats up quickly.

Good cooker, slack quality control at factory

The cooker is great, nice size. Cooks well. Just check for loose screws. Noticed 10 loose some completely undone, only because the rear fan too noisy. Found fan housing all loose and rattling about during use, also fan cover inside oven completely loose. Should take a star off for poor quality control. Otherwise I like it.

Great range cooker, disappointing to have to fit the bottom kick panels and top rear back panel/guard; quite awkward. Should have come fitted in my view.

Love the look and the whole feel of this cooker. The gas hob with its cast iron looks industrial but

    Excellent Range Cooker.

Having spent ages looking at the many different types and styles of range we settled on this one. So far so good. The ovens heat up quickly and evenly and the hobs (when installed as well as our gas engineer did) have a full range of flame. We link ours to LPG bottles with no problem as the adjusters were included which was something we were looking for. The build feels solid and the knobs all operate well. It is easy, however, to leave the small oven on as it is such a small adjustment to 50 degrees. The storage compartment is excellent and can be used as a warmer for plates if using the main oven for a while. The pull out full size grill pan is easy to adjust and useful. My only negatives are that the right hand smaller oven would be better with a swing door not bottom hung. The steel will scratch easily I know but we didn’t want black.
