    Product Summary

Heat Pump tumble dryers are super-efficient, but to save the most energy, programmes may take a little longer to dry your clothes than on standard dryers. It’s important not to overload the drum either, so they can perform at their best.

Take the strain out of laundry day with this AEG heat pump tumble dryer. It only ever uses the precise amount of energy, thanks to ProSense® technology which tailors the settings to suit each load – your smart meter will be happy.  Got some delicate items that need attention? No worries. AEG’s AbsoluteCare® system makes sure fabrics like wool won’t shrink and silk doesn’t lose its shape.  And you won’t have to separate your natural fabrics from synthetics either, since MixDry technology means they can all go in at the same time - neat.

Well built machine with some annoyances (for a very picky customer)

    4/5
Please read this bearing in mind I have quite bad OCD tendencies! This was well rated by Which? magazine (albeit the 8kg model) so I decided to pick one up instead of another brand which I had been considering. It seems like a good machine but I do wish i had gone with the other. I will first write the pros of my time with the machine so far but then finish with the cons which I am finding annoying. Pros - Albeit not the most efficient on the market it's still considerably better than a regular resistive condensing machine. I did a roughly 5kg load the other night and it was around 0.75kwh. - It dries very well. No soggy bits in the middle. Perfectly dry even with big bedding due to the reverse tumbling action. - It seems well built and designed - There's no wifi which some people would see as a pro as it reduces complexity and should extend life of the appliance especially with wifi security updated being factored in. - The display is easy to use and having all the programmes down one side is very easy to see and choose what to pick - 5 year warranty at time of purchase which is a must have for a machine of this price range in my opinion - fairly good looking appliance - Ability to swap the door side from right to left - Only a 700w load which means it is a lot less likely to cause any electrical max load circuit issues in the home. Cons - I am not finding the filter particularly effective, even after only a few cycles I found lint in the cavity below the filter and even some on the fins of the compressor. Not good - Not possible to remove the compressor fins for easy cleaning and no self cleaning water clearing system like on some machines. - I find the humidity in the room goes up considerably after using. I don't know if my model has a leak but it's noticeable on the readout display I have. - I find it quite a noisy machine (Bosch and Samsung are quieter supposedly) - Only offers time end delay with 1 hourly increments which is really annoying for me personally as I have quite specific off-peak times and it makes using those trickier. - The inability to fully drain the water tank is very frustrating. Because the outlet hole is not at the bottom of the tank and it's quite small there is always some water you can't get out and if you won't be using the appliance for a while, it will start to go a bit smelly. Maybe this isn't an issue if the machine is plumbed into a drain but I can't do that unfortunately to test - The door 'glass' is made of plastic and is very easy to scratch with zips on clothes or even buttons on my bedding. Not happy about that when other brands offer tempered glass - No duvet setting which is offered on most other machines including AEG so not sure why it isn't offered on this one. - I actually chose this machine because of the ability to dry hand wash wool but in reality I don't think it's that useful because the max limit is 1kg which won't do my wool duvet or wool pillows. It will do perhaps a wool jumper when wet but it takes 2.5 hours so you have to really ask yourself is it worth using or just air dry the thing even if you're indoors. Little bit gimmicky in my opinion. - I wish that the top lid of it extended right to the back of the machine to sit against the wall so that things on top won't fall down the back and it doesn't look as odd. Ultimately it's a good machine but i wish i had traded the wool setting on this for a cheaper machine to run (A+++ vs A++ on this). If you really rate perfectly dried clothes, the ability to mix synthetics and cottons, a reasonably efficient machine from a good brand made in europe (Poland), very easy to use, no Wifi and something which is very gentle on fabrics I would recommend this machine. For myself it wasn't the right choice but I have used it now so not able to return it.

No fuss, does what it's supposed to.

    4/5
Seems like a great appliance. 4 stars as I've no idea about reliability. Been buying AEG washing machines for years though and they've all been faultless so I expect this will be similar. It's a heat pump drier so takes about 30 - 40 mins just to warm up meaning drying takes a lot longer. It uses a fraction of the energy though, so you makes your choices. More than happy to take the lower cost in exchange for the speed.

    Spot on

Costa few quid more but you can see why, it’s a real quality dryer. Uses less energy as well so no doubt will pay for the extra expense. Very pleased.

Upgrade from 2014 model to 2024

    5/5
My previous AEG dryer was a model from 2014. It probably could have been repairable (the refrigerant quit turning on). When I was choosing a new dryer, I did consider other brands, however I whittled back to AEG and AO having factored price and features. Out of all things to be impressed with, it's the fluff filter assembly. It's a whole improvement to the previous assembly. The double-filter device rests on a rubber seal, which ensures fluff does not go anywhere near the refrigerant fins — and I'm one who vacuums after every use. Obviously, I cannot say if this is a unique design because I cannot see how other brands do this, but from old AEG to new, there is a positive difference. Clothes aren't hot after the cycle, usually the case after two or three uses in one day.

    Expensive but seems justified

    4/5
Whilst pricey this purchase was justified based on the savings over time compared to a condenser tumble dryer we had previously that stopped working. It definitely doesn’t dry clothes as quick but it runs quietly. It heats the clothes rather than the room and less need on the extractor fan. The light is nice and see through door is great. The unit door stuck out further than our last dryer. It weighs the clothes and tells you how long the run will be but only after you’ve started the dry, takes a few minutes which can be annoying if you’re time sensitive and need something dried quickly.
