A new Windows is coming! And whether you’ll be using it for work, homework, or taking a break from work, it’s all about to change for the better. Windows 11 is the newest version of the Windows operating system, which is just a fancy way to describe all the functions, tools, and features on your PC. PCs preloaded with Windows 11 are coming soon, and many Windows 10 PCs will be eligible for a free upgrade too. Let’s find out what’s in store…
Windows 11 has a whole bunch of new themes to make everything fresher and brighter. The new ‘start’ menu puts you in easy reach of your tasks, cloud, and favourite apps, and you can even use the new snap layouts that display all your different task windows to switch between programs more easily. Or use the new latest touch controls to navigate with a simple swipe. Speaking of touch, you can load up a touch keyboard on too – so you can use it as you would on a tablet – if that’s what you’d prefer. And why type when you can talk? The new voice typing launcher is the speediest way to write. Built for productivity, Windows 11 is your new best friend when it comes to ticking things off the to-do list.
If - like us - you like a good natter, you’ll love that Microsoft Teams has been added to the taskbar, so you can chat in one tap. Plus, it integrates with Outlook and Calendar, so you can book in appointments and meetings, or see any clashes across all your favourite programs. And it doesn’t just change how you connect with people. Thanks to a new personalised feed, this upgrade will show you the things you use the most, so you can save time on the searching.
Windows 11 includes the new Microsoft store that’ll give users access to the latest apps, movies and games - all in one place. And when it comes to gaming, Windows 11 tackles 3 of the most important things – picture quality, speed, and access to games. This upgrade automatically adds HDR to games built on DirectX11 or higher for unbelievable visuals, has direct storage for loading assets quickly, and comes with the option to add on an Xbox Game Pass for access to over 100 games for a low monthly price. Windows 11 is the best ever Windows for gaming. Hands down.
If you’re ready to start reaping all the rewards of Windows 11, you’ll be glad to hear that it’s incredibly easy to do. It’s simply a case of downloading and installing. You can use your PC while you’re downloading Windows 11 and then you’ll have the option to schedule the install for a time that suits you. Lucky for you, the installation was designed with the same ‘quick and easy’ approach as everything else!
If you’ve already got a Windows 10 PC, you can upgrade for free from the release date in October 2021 – as long as your device meets the minimum hardware requirements. The easiest way to find out if your PC makes the cut, is using Microsoft’s PC health check app. And if you’re in the market for a new PC, you can buy one with Windows 11 pre-installed that’ll update automatically as soon as the upgrade is available.
It’s like Windows 10, but better. Windows 11 has all the power and security of Windows 10 with an updated look that feels brighter and fresher. There’s also a bunch of new tools, sounds, and apps. The experts at Microsoft have carefully considered every aspect of the software so that it makes your experience the best yet!
Right here, of course. Ready to take a look? Let’s go.
You can see if your PC is compatible using Microsoft’s PC health check app.
We don’t have an exact date for you just yet, but it’s expected to be October 2021. If you’ve got a PC with Windows 11 pre-installed, don’t worry, it’ll let you know when the upgrade is available. And if you want to upgrade your Windows 10 PC, check that it’s compatible and keep your eyes peeled for the release date.
Windows 10 isn’t really available anymore since the latest version is Windows 11. If you buy a new computer from us, it’ll most likely come with Windows 11 already installed. There are a few older models that still use Windows 10, and some of them will be eligible for a free upgrade.
