Simply amazing! A big improvement over the original. Hook it up to the telly to play with friends and family we love the classic’s! I love using it when I go travelling!

Having had the original switch, I went back and forth a lot about whether it was worth upgrading to the new OLED model. After doing some research I decided to take the plunge and I'm definitely glad that I did so! The screen quality, enhanced sound and full metal kick stand with firm precision adjustment make such a difference to my gaming experience. I decided to compare it's performance alongside my old switch and I can definitely say that, for me, the upgrade was worth it and there's a big difference.

For me the value of the switch is in its portability giving me a console powerful enough to play a wide range of games on the go, whilst also providing me my first proper foray into some of Nintendo’s first party titles. This is where it shines, being able to take it to a friends house to play party game staples like Mariokart and Mario Party, or to provide entertainment on long train journeys. Being able to plug it in to the tv to provide a large screen experience is definitely a bonus, but it should be tempered by the fact that it runs in 1080p as a maximum so it doesn’t compete with its generational counterparts on that front. As such it is best to treat it as a portable console with added functionality, and as the definitive way to play Nintendo console exclusives. The Switch OLED itself is a definite improvement over the base model for those who travel with their switch and make use of the screen, which is noticeably larger and more vibrant than the base model. The kickstand is also vastly better than on the standard model but again is something that’s only really noticeable if you use your switch in handheld mode a lot. Ultimately whether you should buy the Switch OLED or the base model comes down to how much you think you’ll use it in handheld mode or travel with it? If the answer to that question is a lot then it’s certainly worth the extra cost, if the answer is no then you’re better off saving yourself the extra cost and get the base model switch. Whether you should get the OLED depends on how much you want the better screen and how much you value the quality of life tweaks like the storage and kickstand. With all that in mind I would definitely recommend the Switch OLED
