    AEG Double Oven

    4/5
I ordered this make of oven, as I had had one some years back and was very happy with it. One really annoying feature which I didn't spot when ordering it, it is virtually impossible to read the settings and temperatures which are printed ON THE SIDE EDGES OF THE CONTROL KNOBS. On my previous oven, they were on the panel and visible. Who on earth thought this would be a good idea? My partner is much taller than I am, but even he can't read the settings easily. We have even tried holding a small mirror to try and read the settings, but this should not be necessary and is highly inconvenient. Unless you're 7ft. tall and enjoy a challenge, don't buy this item.

    Double Oven

The product is excellent and a huge improvement on the cooker it replaced. It has one tiny drawback that we work round and that is that the markings on the control knob are round the sides and the select position is at the top. I'm not tall enough to see these so I have to count round from the side. If the select position was at 9 o'clock or 3 o'clock that would be easier.

    I love my new cooker

I love my new double oven.It is far superior to the last one. It is so quiet I can't hear it when it is on. The cooling fan is only on for 5 mins after turning appliance off. I have the ability to take out the inner glass door for cleaning. The catalytic walls makes cleaning a doddle. The one draw back is I am only 4 foot 11 inches tall, so reading the controls at the top is very difficult. It is AA rated so uses less power. All in all I recommend this appliance very highly, it is a winner.

    Wish I bought the Neff

I had the previous model for 12 years which was a fantastic oven. This inspired me to buy the latest AEG oven thinking it would be an improvement, how wrong I was. You have to be 6.5 foot high to see oven controls as they are on the knob and preheating takes ages. I wish I repaired my old oven

    Good product

    4/5
I’ve only had the oven a short while, but so far so good, it works well and is an improvement on my previous oven. It runs quietly and cooks well. I like that there is a light in both compartments and that the grilling feature doesn’t require the door to be open. My only criticisms are that the symbols and temperatures are located on the dials in a way which makes them difficult to see when they are where you want them to be. The alarm is also quite quiet so if your in another room you may not hear it.

Similar AEG Oven with Less Tiresome Cleaning

    4/5
Only had this oven 2-3 weeks, so still getting used to it. One difference is that there is an vent along the top of the lower oven door which blows right in ones eyes until the lower oven door is properly open. Not a problem when you get used to it. It's a replacement for a previous AEG oven of almost identical design, though we've not yet used the (new to us) catalytic cleaning facility. I've had no problems so far though the rack supports are a little differently placed and require forethought when baking in the top oven. We immediately purchased an additional rack for the oven, as only two are supplied. There is a third rack provided in the form of a roasting tray and accompanying wire grid which will only fit in the tray. AEG suggest in the manual that this can be used as an oven shelf to bake and roast, or "as a pan to collect fat". A little inconvenient if one wants two traditional racks in the lower oven and another in the upper, which I do quite frequently. This particular AEG model has been criticised for having the temperatures and icons printed on the dials, rather than on the backplate, which makes it difficult to select them as they are then above eye level for most people, and certainly me at 5 foot tall. Enquiries suggested that the model of the same number advertising a "brushed steel finger print resistant" backplate would be the one with markings on the backplate, but this isn't invariably mentioned on web page illustrations or in the specifications. I had to order blind, but thankfully I received the one I required with numbers on the backplate. Hopefully that is the newer fashion and the other style (much complained about) is now being phased out.

    Not for short people!

Primarily the oven works great, very nicely made, simple, not complicated. But, depending on how high the oven is installed in your kitchen, you will not be able to read the dials. I am 6', its perfect, my wife is 5'3" and cannot see the numbers and symbols on the dials. If you install this at floor level you will not have a problem, but if elevated beware that it may not be the ideal oven for you!
