Shhhh...... Its so quiet! Great for young households.
5/5
We bought this after our traditional vented tumble dryer started smoking and we decided not to risk using it anymore! I had heard that Heat pumps were more efficient and safer so we decided to take the plunge!
We have had it in use for a week and here are my thoughts....
Its very, very quiet in comparison with a vented unit, that's the thing that strikes you the most.
It takes longer to fully dry a load than a vented unit BUT it only uses about 25% of the energy that a Vented unit does! I reason we can take a bit longer to dry things and still save over 50% on energy.
Being Samsung its well built and fairly logical to operate, it has a dial where you select the type of drying and it uses sensors to check how dry it is and switches off when its dry(ish)
You can also simply select the time that you want it to run and it will do that - we have found for us that is the easiest to get good results and totally dry clothes.
It condenses water that it takes from clothes and that water needs to go somewhere, normally the water goes to a reservoir which can either be emptied by taking out a tank which looks to have a large capacity, or you can plumb it into the drain very easily, so that you never have to empty the condenser reservoir.
We plumbed it into the drain ourselves and the hose you need is supplied as standard on this machine - which is better value.
The machine has an annoying loud tone that plays at the end of a cycle, we searched YouTube for how to turn it off after the 5th load as it would wake up the whole house!
Its easy to silence when you know how and now I would say the machine is pretty much perfect.
I can't compare this to another brand but I would buy it again if necessary, and we are loving the saving on electricity that our smart meter is confirming.
