Emptying a Henry cylinder vacuum cleaner is super simple. Just follow these quick, easy steps and you’ll be ready to clear crumby carpets again in a flash.
Once you’re ready to empty or change the dust bag, you first need to unclip Henry’s lid – affectionately known as their hat, before taking out the basket-shaped filter and setting that aside. Then, carefully remove the bag from the nozzle, making sure to clip it shut to stop any muck falling out on the way to the bin. If it’s a single-use bag, you can go ahead and throw it away now.
If it’s a reusable bag, you’ll follow the same steps, but instead of throwing it away, you can simply undo the zip on the side of the bag, shake it empty, then zip it back up. After a few uses, you might notice it gets a tad dirty – just pop it in the washing machine on a gentle wash and it’ll be good as new.
The suction power for vacuum cleaner depends on a few things. Typically speaking, suction power can be measured in Pa – pascals, and your average vacuum will be capable of between 2000Pa to 3000Pa, but can go as high as 5000Pa or more. It’s worth considering that the performance of a vacuum cleaner is also dependant on the type of model you’re using and the space you’re cleaning. For example, upright vacuum cleaners are usually equipped with brush rollers, making them perfect for clearing pet hair and crumbs from carpets. On the other hand, cylinder or canister vacuum cleaners tend to be better suited for more floor types, like hardwood and tiles.
As you might expect, a wet and dry vacuum cleaner is designed to handle both your typical dust and crumby messes, as well as liquid spills. Unlike your standard upright vacuum cleaner, these can often be used indoors and outdoors, with a separate motor to prevent any electrical problems when sucking up water. A wet and dry vacuum will have a higher suction power than your typical household vacuum, and is often used in construction and DIY settings, too.
The best vacuum cleaner for removing pet hair will combine a high suction power with fine brush rollers or combs to untangle hair as it’s being sucked up. If it is not already fitted with one, some models will feature a detachable head specifically for pet hair removal, though these are sometimes sold separately.
Generally, a vacuum cleaner should last up to eight years or more. How long your vacuum cleaner lasts will vary given your usage and how well it’s maintained. Checking for blockages and cleaning or replacing filters will help keep your vacuum performing at its best.
