Got this Shark vacuum cleaner to replace my moms Dyson. Although she is mainly happy with it, she was surprised by the weight. Even though this particular make is classed as a light-weight vacuum cleaner, my mom and myself both found it to be a little on the heavy side and difficult to manoeuvre. My mom has arthritis and Parkinson's so it's difficult for her to hold onto heavy items for long periods of time, however she has found that if she takes the heavy main attachment off and replaces it with the smaller one that comes with the vacuum cleaner it is much easier for her to use. No one can fault it's sucking power and ability to clean so we are happy with it over all, I just wanted to mention the heaviness as an issue because for someone like my mom, it is a problem. She still wants to be able to clean her house and do what she can despite her illness making it a challenge for her.

I bought this to replace my other vac which was so hard to push around on my new carpet. So glad I chose this Shark because it just glides over the deep pile picking up every little spec of dust and although the cleaning head is a lot smaller than my other vac, I actually get the job done a lot quicker which is due to it being so much lighter and easier to move over the carpet. I've always had my doubts about whether anti-hair wrap really worked as my daughters long hair has always been a problem and at least now I know, it really does work, though it's not perfect, but it is a massive improvement over the non-hair wrap vacs. It also comes apart so easily so cleaning the stairs is a real doddle, as is getting around skirtings and covings. I'm really impressed with this machine as it's definitely the best designed I've ever owned. I've had to give this a 5 star rating, but only because it doesn't go up to 10.

Good suction but the multiple joints in the upright plastic pipe are very wobbly bending easily as you pick it up, it works fine but feels cheap, I have serious doubts about how long it will be before one of the joints breaks. If I had gone to a physical shop before buying to check it out I would have walked away but you know what it's like easier to just click and buy. Fingers crossed on this purchase, registered for the guarantee but if one of the joints breaks I can see any claim being rejected as 'my fault'. Must make the effort next time to physically check out the product before purchase.

The delivery was brilliant but after I think I may be the only person on the planet to have a problem with the anti hair wrap technology? It was ok for a few months but then I noticed a lack of power. Sure enough there was a build up of hair on the rollers. I got in touch with Shark and they were amazing. Polite and helpful and replacing the motor etc. They did all they could and we decided that I should get back in touch with AO for either a replacement or a refund. After a couple of exchanged emails I was told to contact the manufacturers to resolve the problem? Did AO even listen to me or read my emails? How very annoying ....

I purchased the Shark HZ500uk corded stick vaccum a week ago I have used it on 3 diffrent occasions and so far i am pleased with the results it has given. I will go thorugh the pros first: 1. The suction is excellent, it picked up alot of dust and i had only vacuumed two days beforehand, but it was remarkable how much dust had collected in the bin. 2. The anti hairwrap technology works well, i have long hair and when turning the machine over to look at the rollers there were no hairs wrapped around the rollers. The filter seemed have a fair bit of hair wrapped around it though. 3. The vacuum is not heavy and seems to glide easily 4. if there is a blockage a red light appears which is useful as it is hard to tell when you are vacuuming that the rollers have stopped going round. 5. The fact that it can turn in to a handheld vac is very useful for a quick clean. 6. The machine is not flimsy or cheap quality, it seems to be made of strong good quality material 7. The machine takes up very little space and looks neat and tidy when stored away. 8. The dusting brush which comes with it is useful and i dont think i will be using my yellow hand duster anytime soon. Now for the cons: 1. You need to unwind the whole cord to use the machine (by turning the clip the otherway)you cannot unwind just a small length of the cord, this is a bit of a pain when you just want to do a quick clean in one room. 2. The hose does not adjust in length (my last vacuums hose adjusted in length) therefore if you are on the short side you will find it difficult, similarly if you are taller than average you will be bending whilst vacuuming. 3. This may sound contradicting but i feel on full power the suction is too powerful (the machine has two seperate settings, one for hard floor and rugs and the other is for carpets, when the setting is on carpets the rollers go at a much faster speed and i am assuming the suction also becomes more powerful) i have done one deep clean on full power, but i will not be vacuuming on full power anytime soon as i feel it may wear my carpets and i amwary that it may eventualy affect how the carpet is fitted (may loosen the fitting). 4. This point was not an issue for me but i can understand it being an issue for some people. The handle where you hold the vac has the bin canister at the front and this may take time getting use to. I did not have an issue but when my husband tried vacuuming, it took him a while getting use to it (It was either that or the fact that he only vacs once in a blue moon!!) Overall i am very pleased and would recommend the product to family and friends. My main issue is the fact that you have to unwind the full cord every time otherwise i would have given it 5 stars.

Pros: Easy to assemble. Corded with all the features of the cordless, which means I don't have to rush whilst vacuuming. Generous lead so I can vacuum ( one handed) without changing outlets. Picks up dirt, hair and otherwise like a dream with easy transition from from carpet to hardwood flooring (no pets, so cannot attest to that aspect). Noise is minimal whilst in operation. Dust container is easy to empty. Color combination will tie in nicely with most decor, depending on where you decide to store it(aesthetics is on point). Takes up very little space when not in use. Cons: May feel a little heavy for some, however, it's not to the point of you sweating or near death by the end of your cleaning routine ??. Busy households using this vacuum daily may need to empty the canister just as often.

I’ve had a Vax cleaner for years never been crazy excited about my hoover. So spent a long time debating over a shark or dyson. Let me tell you Shark has everything and more and price wise is perfect for all the features. I love the colour of this product, I love the featured headlights which help you to see in dark places. It folds up making it so compact and easy to store. It’s light to carry it doesn’t have the noisy sound of my vax....I literally love this product. BUY BUY BUY

looks like a good poduct only had a few days but happy with the performance .. Not sure about the Shark website though ...I wanted to purchase another part but after been sent from one screen to another gave up
