    Oven Temperature Guide

Perfecting your bakes starts with nailing the oven temperature—it’s the secret sauce to success. This quick conversion guide makes it a breeze to switch between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and gas marks, keeping every recipe right on track!

Ever started prepping a new recipe only to find the temperatures are all in Fahrenheit? We’re here to help. While converting to Celsius can be as easy as a quick internet search, sometimes your phone is out of juice or in the other room. Luckily, our quick guide lets you know how to quickly make the conversion, and a few tips to make sure your oven temperature is always accurate.

In the UK we tend to use Celsius or gas mark when heating our ovens. Celsius is used on electric ovens which can reach temperatures up to around 270°C. For a gas oven, the settings tend to go from a very cool gas mark 1 to an extremely hot gas mark 9.

Your oven’s temperature can bake or break your latest cake. So, if a trans-Atlantic family member has sent you a brownie recipe that you can’t wait to try, make sure you can accurately convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius. Then there’ll be nothing stopping you from adjusting your recipes and making sure you always get consistent results.

    How to Convert Oven Temperatures

Converting oven temperatures between Fahrenheit, Celsius, and gas can be quite straightforward. Whether you’re following an international recipe or just adjusting your oven settings, this guide will help you convert oven temperatures accurately.

    Converting Fahrenheit to Celsius

We’ve popped the sum for converting from Fahrenheit to Celsius below and for this example, we’re working with 350°F

    (350 - 32) x 5/9 = 176.67°C

But don’t worry, we’ve popped it into a handy step-by-step guide to make it a little bit simpler.

    1. Start with 350°F.
    2. Subtract 32 from 350, which gives you 318.
    3. Multiply 318 by 5, which equals 1,590.
    4. Divide 1,590 by 9, which gives you 176.67°C.

So, 350°F is the same as 176.67°C.

    Converting Celsius to Fahrenheit

To convert Celsius back to Fahrenheit, you just need to reserve the sum. So, if you’re trying to figure out how what 180°C would be, the sum would look like this:

    (180 x 9/5) + 32 = 356°F

    1. Start with 180°C
    2. Multiply it by 9 to get 1,620
    3. Divide this by 5 to get 324
    4. Then add 32 which gives you 356°F

So 180°C is the same as 356°F"
