Washer dryers are great for households who don’t have the space for a separate washing machine and tumble dryer. Before you buy your new appliance, you’ll need to make sure it will fit in your kitchen or utility room. Our guide has everything you need to know about how to measure up for a new appliance.
To start measuring for your washer dryer, the first thing to do is to figure out where it’s going to live. If you’re replacing an old model, you’ll already have this sorted. If you’re re-designing your kitchen, you’ll need to make sure your new washer dryer is close to the water supply and has a plug socket within easy reach.
Next, you’ll need to check the dimensions to make sure your new washer dryer will fit. Start off by dusting off your tape measure and take note of the height, width and depth of the space where the washer dryer will sit. Washer dryers tend to have a standard height and width, so they’ll all fit under a regular kitchen worktop. The only thing that will change is the depth, as models with a large capacity drums are slightly bigger. You’ll also need a few extra centimetres at the back for the pipes going in and out of the washer dryer. So, make sure that you find an appliance that will fit in your space without sitting too far forward.
