Frost and ice is appearing in my frost free fridge freezer

Frost free fridge freezers are great because you don’t need to manually defrost them. Instead, they use fans to blow cold air around and get rid of any ice. But you can get a build-up of ice if you leave the door open for too long or if you overload the fridge. In this guide, we’ll take you through some steps to avoid these issues and get your frost free fridge freezer working the way it should.

    Some common problems

    • If you hear a strange noise from your frost free fridge freezer, this could be the fan catching on ice that is forming around it.
    • Be careful that the fridge freezer doors aren’t open for too long or there are no gaps in the door. Frost can appear around the fan and cause it to slow down or stop completely so cold air can’t flow through the cabinet.

To get rid of the frost on the fan, unplug your appliance and remove any food from your fridge freezer. Put hot water (not boiling) over the ice to melt it away. Plug your fridge back in and you should be good to go!
