How to add a child account in Windows 10

We’ll help you set up a new account in a few simple steps.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to add a child account to your Windows 10 laptop. It’s super quick and easy to do. Once you’re done, the kids will have a virtual space of their own and you can keep them safe when they’re surfing online, playing games or talking to their mates.

How to add a child account in Windows 10

  • Kick things off by hitting the Windows icon in the bottom left corner to open up the Start Menu
  • Head over to the Accounts section
  • On the left side of the screen, click on Family & other users
  • Select Add a family member
  • Click Add a child and enter their email address. If they already have an account with other Microsoft services like Skype, Office or Xbox, you can use these details. Go to Next and then Confirm to send an invitation to your child.
  • Your child should receive an invitation by email. They’ll need to accept it to create an account on your laptop.
  • Once you’re back on the Family & other users screen, you can set restrictions on the kind of content your child sees online, the apps they use and how long they can spend on the computer.

All set! Now your child has an account on your computer, you can help them stay safe online while they play games, talk to their friends and maybe, sometimes, do their homework.
