How to connect your laptop to WiFi

We’ll show you how to get on the internet in just a few simple steps.

Connecting your Windows laptop, Macbook or Chromebook to a Wi-Fi network is super simple. Just make sure your internet router is working properly and you've got your password ready to go. That card you got with your Wi-Fi has to be lying around somewhere!

How to connect your Windows laptop to WiFi

  • On the bottom right of your laptop screen, look for the Network icon. This will look like a phone signal with bars or a WiFi symbol.
  • Double click the network that you want to connect to. If you're not sure what your network is called, check out the back of your router.
  • You might be asked to type in a password, which you can find on the back of the router or on the info card you got when it was installed.

How to connect your MacBook to WiFi

  • Click on the WiFi icon in the top right of the screen. If you aren’t connected to the internet at the moment, it will look a bit like a slice of pizza.
  • If it says that the WiFi is off, click Turn WiFi On
  • Click on the network that you want to connect to. If you're not sure what your network is called, check out the back of your router.
  • You might be asked to type in a password, which you can find on the back of the router or on the info card you got when it was installed.

How to connect your Chromebook to WiFi

  • Click on the status bar in the bottom right of your screen.
  • Head over to No network
  • If your WiFi is turned off, flick the switch to turn it back on again.
  • Click on the network that you want to connect to. If you're not sure what your network is called, check out the back of your router.
