Bought to replace a noisy and rather basic Gaggia grinder. Perceived quality is good and it is reasonably quiet - only problem is the coffee grinding! If you drink espresso or use Moka Express pots as we do, the finest setting is simply not fine enough. On our old Gaggia grinder, we used no 2 or 3 of 16 settings. The Smeg has a rather absurd 30 settings, but the finest is still ‘grains’ rather than ‘powder’. It won’t wake the kids, but then again neither will the coffee be the perfect start to your day.

Great price (best deal on the product we could find). Great product - if you’re on the fence I’d 100% recommend investing. It’s made the coffee morning ritual a real joy!

Well worth the premium price tag!

More expensive than others out there kwhen replacing our Nespresso one for the third time) BUT makes two cups worth at a time. Previous Nespresso one you'd to do one at a time and it eventually stops working right as you get overheating issues as the element is in the jug. This one the element is in he base. Much much better designed. AND it looks great!!

I'm very pleased with this. After purchasing it to replace my previous grinder that had begun to fail, I was pleased to find that as well as looking really good, it was both faster and quieter than my previous machine. It also makes little or no mess, as the supplied container does a really good job of collecting the ground coffee. It is a little frustrating that although the machine has 14 settings for the amount of coffee ground, it has no setting for 3 cups, as I am far more likely to make coffee for 3 people, than I am for 12, however you can program your own setting, so I will have to try that. Other than that the only very minor thing that could be improved is that the collection container has a lip on it, making it difficult to tip the ground coffee smoothly.

    Excellent grinder

I bought this grinder after reading reviews on the net. It’s excellent and has fulfilled all my expectations. It looks good on my counter, complimenting the matching Smeg Coffee Machine very well. The choice of grinds and the ability to grind directly into the portafilter, choosing single or double via the easy dial, is exactly what I was looking for.

I have had the SMEG coffee machine for quite some time now and I was desperate to get the SMEG coffee grinder but wasn't sure how it would compare to others as I couldn't find any reviews online. In the end I went for it and I'm so happy! The grinder looks gorgeous, it is very efficient and has so many options when it comes to how you would like your beans ground. I particularly like the filter holder than allows you to place your filter under the grinder and have beans ground directly into the filter before using it with the coffee machine. It also comes with a very handy container to store ground coffee which is useful for storage. Very happy with this purchase!
