It's hard to understand the high ratings and positive reviews for this product. It looks nice, but is definitely more bulky than necessary. The toaster often sends slices flying out, falling either in front or behind the toaster due to the force of the pop up action. This happens with all bread types - regular sliced, bagels and artisan loaves. Toasting can also be inconsistent, often with burned edges appearing or sides being toasted unevenly. I bought this especially for toasting artisanal bread due to the long slots. Shorter slices still need to be fished out with tongs as although the resting height of the bread is quite high, there's no way raise the toast up further to get shorter slices out easily. Unfortunately it does not do well for the purposes it was purchased.

Put 4 slices of bread into toaster and when they popped each one was toasted differently. And when you only want 1 slice toasting the whole toaster has to operate as their is only one lever a waste of electricity. Very poor considering it’s SMEG the kettle is ok but not worth the money. Very disappointed overall

Disappointed with this given the money spent. You can not put 4 pieces of toast in as the bread sticks out the top meaning you can't have 4 fully cooked toast. I have to put the bread laying on its side to have fully cooked toast. I should have just got a 2 slice

Doesn’t brown the toast evenly and burns the edges. Would expect better for the money

Looks lovely, but for such a lot of money, I expected this to last more than 5 months. Yesterday, with a bang and a flash the middle two elements went kaput. Rubbish. Glad I kept my trusty Dualit in the loft

Over priced and consequently over rated , visually they look more pleasing to the eye but the mechanics/ workings are the same as any other toaster that said they look pretty good.

It’s a much brighter pink than I expected. It looks smart but unfortunately the bagel function was stuck on permanently meaning I can only toast one side at a time. I have contacted Smeg directly who said I am on a waiting list for a replacement, so hopefully she the new one arrives it will work as it should

Quite big toaster which takes lots of space on the worktop ,highly overpriced product I cant say it is better than previous £30 toaster .It doesn't even have pop up wire rack for warming up buns or other products You would want. I wouldn't buy it definitely not for this price. I did it because it was My wife's Christmas gift wish.
