My clothes aren’t washing properly

Over time, you might find that your clothes aren’t washing properly. It can be annoying, especially when you need that gym kit cleaning quickly and it still smells like last night’s run. It’s nothing to worry about, though. We’ve got a couple easy-to-follow solutions to get your washing machine working perfectly again.

Check the detergent tray

One common problem is that the drum may have been clogged with washing powder so that only a little bit gets through with each wash. Get rid of this build-up with a thin brush to push the detergent through to the drum or run some water down it to remove the powder. To avoid this problem in the future, try using less detergent in your wash or use laundry tablets that you put straight into the drum.

Clean the washing machine

Your problem could be that your washing machine is dirty. To clean it, you can take out the detergent drawer and put it in some hot water. Let it soak for a minute or two and gently scrub off any remaining powder with a small brush (an old toothbrush would do the trick).

You can also try setting your washing machine to the highest temperature and add white vinegar or washing machine cleaner, which you’ll find in most supermarkets. Once the cycle is complete, give the drum a wipe with a damp cloth.

Contact the manufacturer

If your clothes are still coming out dirty, it’ll be time to turn to the manual for your washing machine. Every product is different, so the manual will have detailed solutions to your problems. If you’ve lost it, don’t worry about it (it happens to us all). The manufacturer’s helpline will be able to guide you through the steps to get your washing machine back to normal again.
