The dishwasher is not cleaning my plates properly

Dishwashers are a great timesaver, but if your current appliance is struggling to clean your dishes, washing up can turn into a real chore. Luckily, we’re here to save the day with some helpful cleaning tips. Get your dishwasher back to its best with our handy guide.

Time for some Spring cleaning

Your dishwasher has probably been through a lot – tackling every dirty plate and glass you put inside. Over time, things like food and limescale can build up in your dishwasher which affects how it cleans, so it probably just needs a little TLC. Here are a few cleaning tips to sort out your faithful washing up companion:

  • The spray arm: Every now and again, the holes inside the spray arms can get blocked up. This can stop water from getting to your dirty dishes, so it’s a good idea to take this out and clean it with some hot water.
  • The filter: You’ll find the filter at the bottom of your dishwasher and it can also get clogged up from time to time. All you need to do is remove it and run it under a hot tap every few weeks.
  • Empty washes: Sometimes it’s nice to treat your dishwasher to a well-earned rest. Running an empty wash will remove any leftover food and bacteria that are building up in your appliance.
