    My fridge freezer is leaking

A leak in the kitchen is an absolute nightmare. Thankfully, if it’s coming from your fridge freezer, it’s a pretty easy fix to solve. It’s usually a problem with the drain at the bottom of the appliance so you’ll just need to clear up the excess water and remove any blockages. In this guide, we’ll be on hand to help you out and get rid of that pesky leak.

    Blocked drain tubes

The most common cause of a leaky fridge freezer is blocked drain tubes. Before you do anything, take any food out and turn off the appliance. Don’t worry, the food won’t need to be out for too long, but if you’ve got an ice chest or a cooler, put any frozen items in there. The drain cover is usually at the bottom or near the front of the appliance, so remove any drawers to get to the blockage. If the drain has frozen over, pour hot water to defrost it. Don’t use boiling water, though, as it might cause some damage. If something is stuck in the pipe, try using a stiff wire (like a clothes hanger) to remove the obstruction. Once you’ve cleared the tubes out, use towels to soak up any excess water and you’re good to go!

    Contact the manufacturer

If you’re still having trouble, try checking the product manual. It’ll likely have more specific solutions for your model. If you can’t find it, or you still can’t fix the issue, try giving the manufacturer a call. They’ll be able to talk you through any further ideas.
