Amazing, huge machine - recommended
5/5
After having had my old Bosch washing machine for 14 years, I was reluctant to move to a different brand. However, with 2 small children and a super king duvet, I really needed something with a huge drum for all of those ‘accidents’ that the kids seem to have on my bed. My old Bosch wouldn’t take the duvet and I couldn’t handle one more late night duvet wash in the bath, so I took a chance on this one, and am I glad I did!
The drum is HUGE. There are so many programs with a wide variety of wash times. Need a quick wash? 14 minutes. Lightly soiled mixed load? 59 minutes. Want to save the environment by using less water? Well, I’ve not used that one yet but it’s several hours. There’s also a steam feature that reduces the need for ironing. I figure that’ll work best with tumble dried items rather than line dried, but I could be wrong.
The machine is really quiet. I never had a problem with the noise the old one made, but this is noticeably quieter. I’m quite taken by it’s start up and end ditty too. It’s like it’s really proud of itself for finishing a load.
The Wi-Fi connectivity, I thought, was going to be a bit of a gimmick BUT, having got comfy on the sofa whilst the husband was putting a load on and asking which program (and what each symbol meant), I was able to get him to pop it onto Wi-Fi mode and do it myself, from my phone, without having to get up. Yes, it’s the height of laziness, but it felt good. It also means that if I want a cycle to finish as I’m getting home but I’m not sure what time that’ll be, I can set it off from anywhere at the right time. It also tells me on the phone when the machine is finished, and as I have an Apple Watch, it also tells me on my wrist, meaning that I never forget that there’s a load just sitting in the machine gathering wrinkles.
It is larger than my old machine, both wider and deeper, so there’s been a little rearranging of our kitchen, but it’s so great that I’m willing to put up with that until we get the kitchen redone.
Just one thing to bear in mind - ALL of the plastic bits that hold the transportation screws MUST be removed, and they don’t always come out easily. If left in, the machine squeaks.
Given the price, this machine is absolutely amazing. I’m not expecting it to last as long as my old Bosch, but then I wasn’t expecting to get 14 years out of that. I’d definitely recommend the Hoover (although I appreciate, I’ve only had it for a week).
