    DIY: Flower Wall

Create a floral photo backdrop, perfect for any summer parties!

With the sun finally shining and the warm weather here, it’s the season of summer parties and weddings. These days very little isn’t captured on our phones and shared with the world over social media so why not give your guests a lovely spot to take photos at your next party and share the fun?

This is an incredibly simple but effective photo backdrop that creates all the beauty of summertime and would be perfect either indoors or out.

    Here's what you'll need...

    • A long straight branch (even better if it’s flowering)
    • A selection of faux flowers (I got mine at OKA but you can find a great selection of inexpensive versions at Dunelm Mill or Home Sense)
    • Some white thread
    • A pair of scissors

    Step 1

Tie a thread to both ends of your branch and use this to hang it on the wall. I had some small pins in my wall already but you can use Command Strips to hang them up which is easy to remove once the party is over if you don’t want to damage your walls.

    Step 2

Tie a double knot at the base of each of your flowers and leave the thread long enough to double knot it from the top of the branch. Vary the length of your thread for each flower and adjust the heads of the flowers so they are facing forward. If you are using faux flowers, you should have a little bit of adjustment with the wires so you can bend the flower head a little.

    Step 3

Continue to hang each flower from the branch, adjusting them as you go until you are happy with the arrangement. I added a few extra flowers above the branch to fill in some of the spaces. Step back as you progress to make sure you are happy with the final look and make any adjustments to the locations and lengths as you go.

    Step 4

That’s it! Your floral backdrop is now complete. You may wish to create a little station with some props to encourage people to get in the mood – think floppy brimmed hats, sunglasses and summer cocktails.

This could work with real flowers as well – just remember to spray the flowers with water periodically so they don’t wilt before the party is over!
