Top Tips: How To Remove Summer Stains From Your Clothes

Get rid of those pesky summer stains with some of our handy hints and tips!

July marks the beginning of schools annual summer holidays, kicking off six weeks of freedom for kids across the UK. Whilst this signals a whole summer of fun and playtime for kids it also creates a huge opportunity for them to get messy and pick up a number of unwanted stains on their clothing leaving the laundry a dreaded task.

But fear not, we’ve created six useful hacks to help you to remove those stubborn and unwanted summer stains from your children’s clothing, through using natural ingredients that you can probably find within the cupboards of your own home.

    Grass stains

Adventuring outdoors inevitably means grass stains but these can simply be removed by creating a solution of one part vinegar to two parts water. Then use a clean rag or nailbrush to work the liquid into the stained area.

    Mud stains

With outdoor fun also comes a few tumbles so for those ground-in dirt stains simply place the item in a bath or bowl of warm water. Apply a small amount of shampoo to the stain and scrub vigorously with a cotton cloth.

    Juice stains

For those pesky juice carton spillages simply soak the stain in lemon juice for around 30 minutes before adding to a regular wash cycle. Alternatively you could run the garment under cold water and then hot water to help lift the stain, before adding to a regular wash.

    Grease stains

Greasy food can be a real nightmare but with baby powder you can simply lift any grease stains from clothing. Pour a small amount onto the stain and press down firmly. Leave it overnight and then add it to a normal wash cycle to remove the stain completely.

    Sweat stains

All that running about on the park can be a sweaty business! To remove underarm stains from clothing, add some fresh lemon juice to some cold water and scrub with a cotton cloth to help remove the stains.

Hopefully these little tips will help to solve any stain disasters that might happen this summer and leave your children’s wardrobe looking as good as new!
