The fridge is too cold

The temperature dial may have been accidentally knocked. We recommend keeping the fridge no higher than 5°c to keep your food nice and fresh. If you have a frost free model, check that the air vents aren’t blocked. It can get really cold near the vents, so we recommend leaving plenty of space for all that cool air to circulate freely.

The fridge is too warm

When you’re loading or unloading the fridge, it’s important to keep the warm air out. Leaving the door open lets that precious cool air escape and raises the temperature. Double check that the temperature dial isn’t turned too far away from the middle, or 5°c if it’s a digital display.

The most common sounds coming from your fridge freezer are usually signs that it’s working hard to keep your food chilled, especially if it’s new. The compressor motor is running almost all the time and you may also be able to hear gas moving inside the pipes. Cracking sounds are nothing to worry about if you have a frost free model. That's just the appliance making sure everything is defrosted. If you're worried about a vibration or rattling, check that the fridge freezer is level and that there aren't any pipes touching the walls.

Why is there frost on my food?

You’ve got a Frost Free appliance but there’s still frost on your food. Not to worry, it’s likely to be a simple fix. First of all, check that the freezer drawers are fully closed, as well as the compartment door. If the drawers are overloaded, there won’t be enough space for cool air to move around. The frost may also be created by keeping salads on a fridge shelf rather than in the salad box. The moisture passes down into the freezer section and causes flaky frost to build up on your food.

It’s really important to leave plenty of space for cool air to circulate around your food to keep it fresh. If your food is crammed in, it’s not getting the refrigeration it needs to stay fresh and tasty. We recommend keeping dairy products like milk and yoghurt in the door storage as this is one of the coldest spots.

Water is leaking from the fridge

Have a quick scout around and check that there aren’t any leaking bottles, jars or containers. If there are, seal them up and clean up the liquid to prevent any bad odours or bacteria from forming. As mentioned above, try and keep foods that contain lots of moisture, like salads, in the salad box rather than on one of the main shelves. Also, check that the freezer drain hole is clear. You can easily unblock it with a straw.
