Some of my TV channels are missing

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to see all of your TV channels. There could be problems with your aerial connection, you may need to retune your set or you may have some issues with your TV signal. These simple solutions will help you get back to watching all your favourite channels.

Check your connections

If the cables aren’t connected properly into your TV, then it could be why you’re having problems. Turn your set off and venture to the back of the TV. Disconnect the aerial wire and plug it back in. It should be fully inserted into your TV, and shouldn’t be loose at the wall either. Now turn your TV on and check if it’s worked.

Retune your TV

Another common solution is to retune your TV, so it refreshes its list of channels. Many TVs will automatically tell you to retune when channels change, but some older models might need to be retuned manually. This is a really straightforward process.

Start off by unplugging your TV and disconnecting the aerial cable. Then plug the TV back in and retune without the aerial. You should be able to find the tuning options by pressing the Menu button on your remote. The retune setting will be under a menu option like Default, Factory or First Time Installation depending on your television. You won’t find any channels, so don’t worry when nothing happens, this just resets your TV. Now turn your set off again and reconnect the aerial. Once everything is back on, do a full retune. Don’t worry if you get asked to delete all of your channels, this is normal, so press ‘OK’. Channels should be installed automatically, so you should be able to start watching your favourite shows straight away.
