    10-Minute Canapes

Expecting a crowd? Wow them with these 5 stunningly simple treats!

I’m going to tackle two preconceptions here. First up that women don’t like football. I love football, or more appropriately, I love the World Cup. Having Italian roots it would be hard not to love the beautfiul game, but it also helps that the boys in blue tend to stand a pretty good chance of making it quite far into the competition.

The second preconception is around canapés. So many of my friends seem to think that these little nibbles involve hours of preparation and cooking for something that is all over after just one bite. Wrong! Canapés are often my favourite part of having a get together and when my fellow football loving gang descend upon my house, I’ll be serving up these five canapés, which can all be made in under 10 minutes. It’s time to get your cocktail sticks at the ready!

    Figs with Dolcelatte

Cut one fig into quarters and place each piece on a cocktail stick with a small slice of Dolcelatte.

    Blinis with hummus and chorizo

Toast four blinis on a low setting before spreading with hummus and placing a slice of chorizo on top of each.

    Mozzarella, sunblush tomatoes and basil

Place four basil leaves, four sunblush tomatoes and four slices of mozzarella onto four cocktail sticks.

Blinis with sundried tomato puree and artichoke

Spread four toasted blinis with sundried tomato puree and place a piece of artichoke on top of each.

Mini pitta breads with mozzarella and Parma ham

Slice two mini pitta breads in half lengthways. Place a large slice of mozzarella on each pitta half and grill for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts. Top with Parma ham.

This selection will feed four hungry mouths or six people looking to nibble. Now your canapés are sorted all you need to do is cheer on your team. In my case, forza Italia!
