"Being a parent typically means a daily quandary of what to serve for lunch. These little tortilla pinwheels served four ways using fruit and veg are great fun. Plus they’re easy enough for the kids to make themselves, as my seven year old demonstrates!"

    Here's what you'll need...

    4 soft tortillas
    1-2 tbsp chocolate spread
    Small handful strawberries
    ¼ red pepper
Handful grated cheese (freshly grated, not the pre-grated coated stuff)
    1-2 tbsp cream cheese
    3-4 florets blanched baby broccoli
    1 large banana
    Small handful chopped hazelnuts

    Here's how it's done...

    Chocolate and strawberry pinwheels

Cover the tortilla with chocolate spread. Sprinkle over chopped strawberries and roll up tightly. Push in some toothpicks to hold in place.

    Cut into quarters.

    Banana and hazelnut pinwheels

Cover the tortilla with mashed banana and sprinkle over chopped hazelnuts before rolling up tightly.

Push in some toothpicks to hold in place and cut into quarters.

    Cream cheese and broccoli pinwheels

Cover the tortilla with cream cheese. Sprinkle over chopped broccoli and roll up tightly.

Push in some toothpicks to hold in place and cut into quarters.

    Cheddar and red pepper pinwheels

Cover the tortilla with grated cheese. Sprinkle over deseeded and diced pepper, roll up tightly.

Push in some toothpicks to hold in place. Cut into quarters.

If sending these to school in lunchboxes, remove the picks, wrap firmly in foil and place in the lunchbox with a cooler block to keep fresh.

So that’s it! They’re so simple, and you could keep them interesting by trying out almost any yummy combination.

Do let me know if you try them!
