"Receiving a gift is one of life’s great pleasures. It becomes extra special when you get something that’s been handmade; a present that someone has taken the time to make just for you. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, thoughts of the perfect gift are likely to be at the front of your mind, which is why you should stop trawling the internet for something to give mum, and instead, make these delicious chocolate and hazelnut truffles. She’ll definitely thank you for it."

Firstly, these are delicious … seriously delicious. Secondly, they are really easy to make and thirdly, they box up beautifully and you can take all the credit for them. So call off the search and get your apron on, these are the only chocolaty gift you’ll need this mother’s day.

    Here's what you'll need...

    • 140g dark chocolate
    • 140ml double cream
    • 25g unsalted butter
    • 1tbsp Nutella
    • 50g chopped hazelnuts

    Here's how it's done... Step 1

Break up the chocolate and place in a large bowl. Set to one side.

Pour the cream into a saucepan with the butter and melt over a low heat. As soon as the mixture starts to bubble, remove it from the heat and pour over the chocolate, alongside the Nutella.

    Step 2

Stir the chocolate, cream and butter mixture continuously until the chocolate has melted and the mixture has completely combined. Now, chill the mixture in the fridge for 3 hours.

    Step 3

Line a dish with greaseproof paper. Use a teaspoon to spoon out the truffle mixture, and then roll into balls using your hands. Once you have the desired shape, roll the truffles in the chopped hazelnuts and place on the greaseproof paper. Keep the truffles in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

The hardest part of this process is resisting eating them all before Mother’s Day. All the very best of luck with that!
