Tried and Tested: Is Samsung’s Dual Cook the answer to cooking multiple dishes at once?

What if we said that there’s a Samsung oven that splits into two, letting you cook multiple dishes, on separate temperatures, for different lengths of time, and all without any flavours mixing together. Sounds too good to be true, right? So, we thought we’d get @shivanilf to put Samsung’s Prezio Dual Cook oven to the test. We asked her to cook two different dishes at the same time, so we can see it for our very own eyes.

Being a recipe blogger, the oven spends more time on than off in my house. I’m often batch cooking recipes and taking photos for multiple blog posts in one go. So, when ao.com kindly gifted me the Samsung Prezio Dual Cook oven , I couldn’t wait to try and cook some of my favourite foods at the same time.

What were your first impressions of the Samsung Prezio Dual Cook oven? Did you have any reservations?

When it first arrived, I was an immediate fan of its sleek and modern style. The front of the oven fits flush to my kitchen cupboards, while the inside is a beautifully rich shade of blue. And the 75-litre capacity gives me room to cook for a crowd.

The oven also came with two matching blue baking trays, as well as wire rack. A dual cook divider was included too, which slots in to create a barrier between the upper and lower sections of the oven. I will admit that I was a bit sceptical about whether the dual cook divider would work at first, but amazingly, it did.

So, you took on our challenge. How did the dishes cook, and did any of their flavours get mixed up?

I put the oven to the test by cooking a roasted vegetable salad, while baking some cinnamon swirls for dessert. Normally, I have to roast my vegetables at 180°C when other things are in the oven, but the Dual Cook technology let me crisp my vegetables quicker on a 210°C heat, and keep my cinnamon swirls on a lower temperature.

The swirls didn’t need to be in the oven for as long as the roasted vegetables, either. This is where the advanced timer feature on the full touch display came in handy. Thanks to this, I could put both of the dishes in, but delay the cinnamon swirls start time, so they’d be ready to pull out at the same moment as the vegetables.

I then put both dishes under the scrutiny of my family, who agreed unanimously that there was no flavour transfer. That’s quite a big achievement when you think about the number of onions and herbs mixed in the veg – and let’s not forget about all the cinnamon in the swirls.

What did you think of the other features?

One of my favourite things is that the light inside the oven switched off automatically to save energy. When I needed to check if my cinnamon swirls were perfectly golden brown, I could switch the oven light back on at the touch of a button.

Another handy feature was the telescopic rails in the bottom half of the oven. They easily pulled out, making it much easier to check on food and take things out. I can already see them coming in handy when it comes to lifting all my heavy casserole pots.

How easy was it to clean afterwards?

Honestly, one of the best things about this oven is the handy pyrolytic function. When I finished cooking, this heated the inside to around 500oC, burning away any grease or burnt food that had built up. And once it’d cooled down, I just had to give it a quick wipe to remove any ash, leaving the oven spotless for when I next cooked.

Would you recommend this oven to others? If so, who do you think it would suit?

Overall, the Samsung Dual Cook oven is a great substitute for a double oven when you don’t have the space. So, if you’re often cooking loads of dishes at all different temperatures, then this is the perfect one for you.

Now I just can’t wait to keep using this oven for meal prepping. I’ll be able to bake a batch of blueberry muffins and a bubbling lasagne at the same time, without any worries.

Thank you again to AO for gifting me this oven!
