While I’’m perfectly happy to admit I’’m a total maximalist when it comes to decorating, even I notice that when the weather starts to finally become warm and we’’re enjoying the long, lazy days of summer, I begin to shed the layers in my own home.

Like removing the heavy coats, scarves and gloves from our wardrobe and packing them away, lightening and editing our homes can have a similar cooling effect, visually reversing that nesting effect we might welcome in the winter but which can seem too heavy in warmer months.

For me, there’’s nothing worse than a cluttered, heavy feeling in the bedroom on those nights when we remove our highest tog duvet and replace with lighter linens to get the best night’’s sleep. Cooling our bodies is paramount when it’’s too warm, but there are other things we can do to create a visually lighter bedroom, making sleep easier and our surroundings calmer.

So today, I’’m going to talk about a number of different ways you can create a fresh look in your bedroom this summer without having to spend a lot of money or completely remodel.

So those are just a few ways to really create a fresh new look in your bedroom this summer. Do you have any favourites from what I’’ve shown? Or perhaps you have some ways you’’ve brought summer into your home? I’’d love to hear from you!
