"Feel like getting arty with toast? This simple snack pays homage to famed Russian painter, Wassily Kandinsky and it’s rather tasty, too.

You don’t need much skill to make this fun and arty toast, so it’s a great activity to try with little ones, and a lovely way to get them interested in classic art."

    Here's what you'll need...

    1 slice bread per person
    Butter (optional)
A selection of hams, cheeses and anything else edible and sliced
Cookie cutters in three sizes (I used a piping nozzle for the smallest circles)

    Here's how it's done... Step 1

Cut out six rectangles (large enough to cover one slice of bread), plus six large circles, six medium circles and six small circles. Vary the meat/cheese types for full artistic effect.

    Step 2

Toast your bread to perfection, butter if desired and then layer up the cheese and meats; rectangle, large circle, medium circle, small circle, repeat! Place each of them a little wonky and off-centre, just like Kandinsky did.

Lay your rectangles carefully on your toast to create your completed work of art and enjoy!

Of course, if you’re really arty, you might want to go beyond the realms of cookie cutters into something super realistic to rival the greatest artists of all time.
